TEA recommends takeover of Beaumont ISD

Who knows what could be brought forth at this point.

The Jefferson County District Attorney has been investigating allegations of wrongdoing by the district. District Attorney Cory Crenshaw issued the following statement in reaction to the news from the TEA

"We would like to take this opportunity to let the community know that now is the time for those who have knowledge of wrong-doing at the school district and wrongdoers themselves, to come forward. We are asking that all individuals with knowledge of criminal activity at BISD to meet with us, tell the truth, and agree to cooperate. Starting today and through the end of this month, my office and task force investigators will be available to meet with people who are willing to speak to us and consideration will be given to those that come forward during this time period. Change within the school district is imminent and this opportunity will hopefully allow for swift justice," stated Crenshaw.

WOW!!! Everybody joining in to put a pin in the balloon. Wow!! Everybody jumping in to kick a ill horse to its knees.

You guys may be jumping the gun a little too fast. No takeover just yet.

How is posting what we read considered jumping the gun? I find your nonchalant attitude towards a school district that has to be taken over by a state board due to malfeasance and misappropriation of funds to be insulting to say the least. I also consider you an enabler.

TEA has not decided to take over BISD, as of this date.  Mike Williams may recommend Chargois (sp?) to clean house.

Our take?

Okay....Chargois is OUT no matter what. Really he is gone. Ambres might make him the lamb on the slaughter table because she has nothing to lose. He is out either way. The first action the new board will make is to fire him - no doubt in our minds. If they leave the old board in - and give them ONE MORE CHANCE - uh....he is still gone. He is the leader, he is arrogant, he is defiant, and his response to the TEA and the now famous presser has infuriated TEA. As one leader told us : "It was like he said bring it on."

Second, Ambres is simply not a leader. And there is a dysfunctional board. They cannot operate the district. So a board of managers must come in. And it works as the elections are not slated until May 2015 - which the new board of managers can draw the district, settle down the finances and get back to running a district.

Third, Jefferson County District Attorney Crenshaw has laid the gauntlet down. He is going to prosecute. He has Texas Rangers, he has his investigators, FBI agents (whoopee)  and he has a team dedicated to bringing it all together. He may be the one that cleans out BISD - which should have been done years ago. But as you can tell - he is doing it right. Quietly and with outside investigators that know - NOBODY.

So - with that all we have left to say it is Tea Time in Beaumont Texas.

One last thought - we have NOT HEARD from Mayor Becky Ames and Jefferson County Judge Jeff Branick - the two leaders of the community. We have heard from the doctors, chamber, real-estate people, and others, but we have not heard from - well - we have not heard from the two leaders.

That should happen. If they don't say anything to the media - shame. As well from other city council officials in Beaumont. As Beaumont continues to slide downhill

Well if things were to happen in a way that would benefit the students and our local economy, then the truth would come out, all criminal activity would be prosecuted and the offenders would serve appropriate jail time. Those currently within BISD who are problems and not up to the task of running a first class school district would be terminated, and leadership, whether appointed, hired or eventually elected would actually be committed to a first class education of all students within the district. The community would lay down decades of bitter feelings and mistrust and come together unified in the mission of great education.  This would build the foundation for a great community that would pay dividends for our kids and grandkids!!  Does anyone see it play out like that???  Just asking!

According to BD3, it is still up in the air whether the TEA will take over BISD.  I do not know if they will or won't.  My question to the posters of this board is this: with the plethora of evidence we have about the management of BISD over the last 5+ years (school board and administrators), what would it say about the competency of the TEA  if they in fact did not take over BISD??  Just asking for everyones views!!
