Does this mean that the two that filed the petition has more pull than TEA?? Very good job by those two. I'm just asking because TEA came in talking all this Jive & BISD gave them the Business. Two citizens Lawyer up & makes more progress than TEA has. Correct me if I'm wrong. Many on here had the current board ousted as soon as TEA arrived. Not saying any one person knew what the outcome will be, but this current turn of events by these two citizens & a petition has done just as much if not more than TEA has thus far. Still no mention of Dr Thomas or any indication of him being held liable. Too many jumping to conclusions too soon. So what's the next move TEA?? Or should I ask the two citizens?? These two & their Lawyers are pretty Saavy

Still more buzz than TEAhas stirred. Plot thickens

Arguably. A sizable crowd has been seen protesting around Beaumont in favor of the TEA takeover on several occasions. At least part of that crowd was present outside the courthouse in Austin during the injunction hearing. I think that constitutes a fair amount of "buzz."

On an aside, isn't there a rule somewhere banning current school board members from running for school board again after TEA has turned the district back over to local control? Or was that something I dreamed?

I'm not talking about the Buzz the people are stirring, I said the Butt kicking TEA was supposed to do swiftly as many mentioned on many occasions. As I stated you can correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems as if the 2 citizens have the best Lawyers up to this point. Just my view Sir
Doesn't equate to a hill of beans, but anyways Lol

Chag rescinds his offer to resign. He's staying!

BISD should sell their rights to Lifetime and make some of that money back. This is better than TV.

Dr Chag is about that C.R.E.A.M. Lol
The "Show" ain't over!!! I've ordered the double disc set of the complete 1st Series
This Board has some nerve, Wow
Come on TEA!!! They are calling your Bluff
They just may have finally P.O'd the State

You don't have to have lawyers to start a petition, and I don't recall it being said in the news that the Trevinos had obtained one. They're simply exercising their rights as constituents of BISD.

In any case, the only reason it's taken so long for BISD to be taken over by BISD is that the school board voted to appeal the decision in court. Anytime you take up a court case, it takes time. Honestly, if anything, it's surprising it didn't take longer.

    • I agree but Hitchcock had better skill players
    • Waco LaVega is about equal to Hitchcock in speed and size.
    • You’re the one talking about Elementary school kids.  What I’m saying is that there are kids who play Jr School ball in GCCISD and then transfer into BHISD/GPISD/LPISD/DPISD between 8th and 9th.  Doing so means no PAPF/eligibility questionnaire and they get to play Freshman/JV, work out with the team, etc. and look homegrown because they transferred before freshman year.  it’s a loophole.  All the big programs do it.  That’s why the UIL rules changes, to close up the 8th-to-9th transfer portal, and it isn’t even taking effect until Aug 1 2025 so you’ll see these transfers this summer. Also, as far as BHISD being closed instead of open, just look at the GCCISD transfer numbers I posted.  GCCISD loses twice as many kids to BHISD per year, the “closed” district, than they do to the open Districts in the area.  Anyone who lives here knows folks who’ve used MeeMaw’s address to get their kids in there.  It is what it is and if it wasn’t, UIL wouldn’t be changing those rules and sending one of their own to the DECs now would they?   Go ask Coach Abseck how many kids in his program are 8th Grade transfers.  We know that at North Shore that number is at least 20% because of the numbers they had to provide UIL during their recruiting investigation.  I’ll bet BHISD’s numbers are AT LEAST that.  Again, THEY ALL DO IT.
    • According to Texas Tribune, Gccisd, Laporte and deer park are all rated B. Barbers Hill is an A. GC has a higher 4 year graduation rate than LP or DP. BH is far and away the best district on this side of town. GC has a much higher percentage economically disadvantaged at 71.7% with LP being next closest at 52%. Surprised that GC is performing so well considering. All of the players that would likely make a great football team are out by GCM and Sterling. If GCM had Lee's coach and dropped back down into 5A division 1, they would be able to compete very well against BH and LP. I don't know what their problem is with getting the athletes to gel into an actual team. Lee still beat them both this year and was sort of a down year by Lee's standards. Lot of injuries some kids moved out of district and they are paper thin as it is.
