I was thinking that breaking into someones home, regardless of intent, is a big no-no and deserves a punishment sufficient to prevent an instant replay. But that's just me. I know how important it is to show compassion for those folks.

What's wrong with you must everything be a debate with you. You love throwing out these sarcastic post. Nothing about showing compassion towards criminals. Stealing someone TV is alot different than harming someone and taking the TV. As in more charges.

I look at it like this

I have no idea what someone's intentions are when they enter my house......I shoot first and ask questions later.

Family of 5 to protect

Teach your son/daughter right from wrong.

Yes I believe in more strict laws for these crimes

I agree with most of you.  Anybody comes in my house in the middle of the night, they get shot.   But, we arent talking about that in this case.   Do you give a kid 20 years for a crime where there was no intent to hurt anybody?   That's my issue.    I hate thieves worse than drug dealers, but 20 years is a looong time.

and I know we have overcrowding and that can be solved easily.....decriminalizing mary jane possession and quicker death penalties for murders/rapist/pedophiles.

If there on deathrow why waste electricity/food/health care for them

How does one prove there was no "intent" to harm anyone?

Lack of facts again. Intent can be present if the person takes action with the knowledge that it will lead to the commission of a crime. You break in, you may have intent. I'm not waiting for you to show me your plans. Bursts of three coming your way.

your clearly taking about something I'm clearly not
