Smitty & Stevenash - When Will The Wealth Trickle Down?

Recommended Posts

Do you believe in the notion of a country being as strong as its middle class? Yes or No.

Look at the following illustration. The top 0.1% has rebuilt its share of the wealth to levels seen during the ROARING TWENTIES. Go read a history book and you'll notice that was right before the Great Depression.

Rich get richer because money grows exponentially and the supply/demand imbalance of skilled/unskilled workers

Middle class gets outsourced and their pensions slashed so Fat Cat Bob can get a bigger bonus

Poor remain poor because they make terrible life choices for the most part

It just blows my mind how you guys can defend the ultra rich while they outsource the middle class because you're too busy distracted by religion, abortion and welfare debates.

How is poverty trickling up when the rich are getting significantly richer? I thought wealth was supposed to trickle down?

Wealth trickle down?  RIght now, poverty is trickling up.  Therefore, the current "approach" has increased the number of "unfortunate" rather than decreasing it.

Poverty trickles up when more people don't have jobs or income and more people are on federal aid than ever before.  I want to let you in on a secret.  You will never eliminate poverty and there will always be a class that has more than everybody else.  You had better be thankful for that class that has a lot because they are the ones you tax so you can provide federal housing, food stamps, unemployment and healthcare to everyone else.   THey are also the ones who put their money at risk in various ventures that turn out to be considerably more successful than efforts such as Solyndra.

Term limits is only part of the solution. Next step is to end the legal bribery that goes on. Whoops I meant campaign "contributions"

Have you ever heard of a politician going to DC and leaving with less wealth than they came while only making a small salary! Follow the money!!!! Term limits is the answer, vote em all out!

Getting rid of contributions wont make the middle class financially stronger.  Allegedly, we have a Senate and President who promised this would happen and it has worsened rather than getting better.  Average income is down since the current crowd took over.  And they are supposed to be the ones who can "identify" with the little guy.  You still haven't told me what your solution to the problem is.  Here is another hint.  If we take all of the wealth in this country and divide it equally amongst all the people, it wont be long until most of the prior upper class become the upper class again and then you can start crying again that "daddy, daddy, he won't share"  What you and the President want is not equal opportunity but equal outcomes and that cannot be legislated without a communistic type circumstance.  There is no record of that approach being successful anywhere.

I agree to much money goes to these crooks but everyone wants to blame the folks spending the money and in my opinion the blame should lay at the feet of the crooks taking the money . I think there should be a very low amount of $ one can contribute but if more is given the hammer should fall on the taker not the giver!

We agree. Why can't Smitty, Stevenash and jv_coach be more reasonable like you?

If someone has different viewpoints then they're automatically labeled a communist or socialist.. but then get mad when someone wrongly labels them a racist.

If there were no "contributions" in the last two elections, what effect would it have had on the outcome? So we need more in the middle class? Ok- Do we try to lift some of the lower class up to the middle class or do we tax the upper class until they become part of the middle class?  We have more programs aimed at helping the lower class than we have ever had and it is proof that throwing more money at it is not the answer.

Do you not see an issue with the shrinking MIDDLE CLASS?
