The gap between the minimum wage earner and corporate CEOs has been lessened. This will make the Seattle economy more robust and vibrant and more companies will move there when they find out they must pay higher costs than in other cities. ( although some of the more sophisticated companies may wait until Seattle raises its tax rate)This country is moving FORWARD!!!!!! Quote

Raising minimum wage will only increase the prices you pay for the service. If you are an adult trying to make it at McDonald's on minimum wage then when you were young and at school you made choices that put you there. Quote

Raising the minimum wage adds no money into the local economy; it only redistributes money among people who are already part of the economy. Low wage workers will have more money to spend; business owners and customers of those businesses will have less to spend by an amount equal to the increase in wages. The lost money is federal government benefits that low wage workers lose thanks to the increase in the minimum wage. In fact, many of these workers will lose food stamps, some or all of their earned income tax credit, and other means-tested federal benefits. This money is currently spent in the local economy, but after the minimum wage is increased the money will revert to Washington, D.C., to be spent on something else. low wage workers can lose as much as half of any new income to increased taxes and lost benefits. They are doing their best to get "in the way" as much as possible because they believe that, in spite of the economic woes of the postal service, the overt failure of Solyndra, and the lack of accountability( which ultimately led to deaths) at the VA, that they know more about how to run businesses efficiently. Companies that are barely making a profit will be shut or moved because they're now in the red. Minimum wage is minimum for a reason. There are still teachers and other professionals with 4-year degrees who don't make the $31K a year that burger flippers and cashiers will now make in Seattle. I honestly don't see this turning out well for the city and it's economy. Quote
