smitty Posted June 7, 2014 Author Report Posted June 7, 2014 The president wants it raised to 10.10/hr, but we can all volunteer to work for $3.00/hr. That would really help the unemployment rate. You guys didnt complain when the minimum wage wasv raised before, but now that president Obama has suggested it, it is the end of the world as we know it. You guys are pathetic. Smh Again -- the question is not hard: If raising the minimum wage helps the unemployment rate -- then why not make the min wage $50 per hour? Or $100 per hour? I mean, if this is what solves unemployment, why stop at $15? Why is that the magical number? Quote
smitty Posted June 7, 2014 Author Report Posted June 7, 2014 Smitty did we have a100% employment rate the last time it was raised? When is the last time you got a raise? Has it been 6 yrs or longer? I was trying to make a point that raising the minimum wage actually hurts employment! Quote
stevenash Posted June 7, 2014 Report Posted June 7, 2014 You are wrong Smitty because President Obama said it helps the economy and he never lies. ( But, then again, he also said the 10 trillion deficit he inherited would be cut in half by the end of his term and here it is at 17 trillion) Quote
Big girl Posted June 7, 2014 Report Posted June 7, 2014 Were you ticked off when it was raised when other presidents were in office? Quote

Big girl Posted June 7, 2014 Report Posted June 7, 2014 Let companies pay us anything they want to, let's do away with the minimum wage all together. Quote
stevenash Posted June 7, 2014 Report Posted June 7, 2014 Or, lets let the market decide. Lets have workers become desireable employees, thereby forcing competitors to pay more than other companies are paying. That happens when you have a robust economy and employers looking aggressively to find the most productive employees they can find. A fast and strongly growing economy will do more for wages than any government edict ever will. But the current mentality is not to seek to improve oneself but rather have the government guarantee a certain wage level. Please point out an economy that has been successful and maintained that success via more taxes, more regulation, and government mandated wages. Quote
77 Posted June 7, 2014 Report Posted June 7, 2014 Under the Obama economy raising the min. wage is the only way folks can get a raise because he sure aint growing it! smitty 1 Quote
tvc184 Posted June 7, 2014 Report Posted June 7, 2014 The minimum wage was 5.15, it was then raised to 7.25 and the US has not collapsed. President obama wants it raised to 10.10/hr That simply is not true unless you intentionally skipped two step raises in between $5.15 and $7.25. If you want to do it that way, the MW was $1.60 when I started working so it went from $1.60 to $7.25. thetragichippy 1 Quote
stevenash Posted June 7, 2014 Report Posted June 7, 2014 Its very simple. Big Girl believes that big government is the solution. She believes that big government is better at resolving such issues than the markets are. The markets have already told us, via solyndra and the debt default of the U.S. Postal service that big government is not a good solution. And only the kool aid consumers continue to accept anything offered by Mr. Obama without question. Quote

The Republican ship is sinking because they're on the less popular side of top issues today not because of welfare. Find a more appealing approach. Big girl 1 Quote
Big girl Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 I know right. The poorest states are red states. ( I will never understand why those people vote for the Republicans). Quote
