stevenash Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 You must be a "teabagger" and that will get you in a lot of trouble on this board because what you described above is what the left calls "extremist" 77 1 Quote

Big girl Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 Yeah whatever. My people were not free. Quote
stevenash Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 Does this mean you are one of those who is not proud to be an American? How long has it been since "your people" became free? Quote
PAMFAM10 Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 Independence Day thread and you guys rather argue politics. Thought this might be the first thread were everybody agree and gets along. This setx political arena reminds me of d.c. thetragichippy and mat 2 Quote

stevenash Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 PamFAm- I, like you, am disenchanted with the majority of all politicians, regardless of party affiliation. If they are so disappointing and so unproductive, doesn't it make sense to reduce their reach into our lives rather than increasing it? 77 1 Quote

77 Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 Yeah whatever. My people were not free. Get over it , its not our fault! Quote
TROJANSWIN Posted July 5, 2014 Author Report Posted July 5, 2014 Yeah whatever. My people were not free. But now they are, and you live in a country where you are free to choose the path that your life will take. What choice will you make? Wait for the government to make everything "right" and sit around whining about it? Or, work hard to get better things for yourself and start earning a fortune for you and your descendants? Just out of curiosity, do you think Oprah Winfrey, Herman Cain, or Michael Jordan's ancestors were better off than yours? Maybe they should have sat around whining about it. Probably would have worked out better for them than the path they chose! Don't you think? 77 and LumRaiderFan 2 Quote
Big girl Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 I am not sitting around whining about it. I have two college degrees. My son, who is 17, has an opportunity to attend Yale, Harvard, Brown, Cornell, university of chicago, northwestern, baylor, texas a&m among others. He has a 4.8 on a 4.0 scale. He took algebrA 1 and english 1 in the 7th grade so we are definitely not whining in my household. :) TxHoops 1 Quote
Big girl Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 He has to decide where he wants to go. I am hoping he will go to baylor or rice. I forgot to mention rice. Quote
Big girl Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 Anyway I had a long talk with my dad. He made more sense then you guys. He told me that if it were not for sensible white people (LBJ, Kennedy) we would not be where we are today, even though we were not free in 1776, we have been assimilated. He told me not to look at the racist idiots like done of you are, but instead look at all of the compassionate and intelligent white people , that made it possible for us as a people to be where we are today and...........because of intelligent non racist white people we have a black president. stevenash Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 You are just gonna have to find another avenue instead of the race card. Its overplayed, worn out, and losing credibility. Quote

LBJ ?? If you think Bush and Cheney went to war because of oil. Lady Bird Johnson, LBJ's wife made millions of dollars off of the Vietnam war. LBJ was elected to congress the first time because all of the dead people in the district voted for him. He was a liar and a thief. I got the chance to meet one of his neighbors in Stonewall a few years back. According to this older gentleman who lived next door to him for decades, LBJ was a sorry piece of pooh. I would hardly throw him in as a great example of compassion and caring! Oh, but I forgot, he wanted to give people free stuff so they wouldn't have to work hard. I see why you included him. He wasn't racist like the rest of us! Quote
mat Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 BG, your grandfather sounds wise and I appreciate his insight. That insight however would not be well received had it not come from a black person, or a relative for that matter. Quote
Big girl Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 Nope, I would not have received it from some of you guys. Quote
stevenash Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 How has the black community been helped by this President? Have they experienced better economic conditions? I dont think they have. If they have not benefitted economically, how have they benefitted? Quote

Big girl Posted July 7, 2014 Report Posted July 7, 2014 He signed the civil rights act, which makes him alright with me. I would be working as a maid for a wealthy white family if he had not done that. Quote
Big girl Posted July 7, 2014 Report Posted July 7, 2014 Hell he might have been a racist but he signed that bill Into law so I am forever grateful, because i am not that great of a housekeeper. No one could be worse than bush/cheney. Quote
