Peppermint Patty Posted July 18, 2014 Report Posted July 18, 2014 Over. 8-4 Tough to beat Baylor, OU, TT, and UCLA. If the QB gets fixed, could be as good as 10-2. Quote
PhatMack19 Posted July 18, 2014 Report Posted July 18, 2014 The actual vegas line is 8.5. 8-4 would be a good first year for Charlie http://kegsneggsblog.com/2014/05/22/new-college-football-win-totals-posted-at-5dimes/ PN-G bamatex 1 Quote
OldTimer Posted July 18, 2014 Report Posted July 18, 2014 Texas will be 9 - 3 - that is my prediction. Weak league - will lose to OU, Baylor and UCLA. Will manage to win at TT but it will be close. Quote
BlackShirts5 Posted July 18, 2014 Report Posted July 18, 2014 I'm going 9-4. They will finish 9-3 but lose in the bowl game. Quote
PN-G bamatex Posted July 19, 2014 Report Posted July 19, 2014 I guess I have to start rooting for the Longhorns now.... :( Quote

Will manage to win at TT but it will be close.I agree with 9-3, assuming the QB play gets fixed. The defense should be excellent, and the RB's are great if they stay healthy. OU, Baylor, and UCLA all look like top 10 teams this year. TCU could pull an upset on Turkey Day too.. Quote
baddog Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 Same thoughts as for the Ags. Need to see some competition before attempting to predict wins, especially with a new coach. Quote

PhatMack19 Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 The whole season depends on Ash's head. If he can stay upright, they can win 9 games. If Ash gets knocked out early it will be a long 1st year for Chucky. This is from practice today @mikefinger: Trey Holtz, grandson of Dr. Lou, has looked about as impressive as Tyrone Swoopes and Jerrod Heard this morning. Quote
PhatMack19 Posted August 18, 2014 Report Posted August 18, 2014 After saying all along Heard may win the starting job sometime this year, Ketch wrote this today. quote: I can't believe I'm typing this, but it's possible that Jerrod Heard needs a redshirt year every bit as much as Tyrone Swoopes, who still very much needs one. The Longhorns really need David Ash to stay on the field because I'm just not sure what the correct play is if he's out of the equation for so much as a painful hangnail. They are in deep ish the first time Ash takes a hit..... Quote

OldTimer Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 Coach Strong, Chuckie, will win more games in his first year than Coach Sumlin wins his third year. I can actually see that happening. If A&M's defense does not improve dramatically it could be a long season. Difference is Big 12 - this year (in conference) they play Kansas (3-9), Iowa State (3-9), WVU (4-8) and TCU (4-8). While A&M plays in conference only one team with a losing record - Arkansas (3-9) - all other 2014 conference foes had winning records with most being ranked. A&M will face more ranked teams in conference than Texas will face all year - including their bowl game. Even when you take the cupcakes that A&M has in non-conference their schedule is much tougher than the Longhorn schedule. That was a choice that A&M made when it decided to move to the SEC - you take the rewards along with the lumps that go with that. I still believe that in the long run it will benefit the Aggie's much better than if they had stayed in the Big 12 - and will make the State of Texas a much more level playing field than it has been in the past - Lets admit it Texas has ruled the State for a long time just today not so much as it was. OldTimer Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 But still sticking with my 9-3 prediction for Texas Chuckie (your name) will still pull at least one upset and win the games he should. Quote

baddog Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 No predictions, but I'm going to say that Texas surprises a bunch of people. We need not listen to Aggie naysayers, because all they can say is that our wins don't add up to theirs because they play in the sec. All teams outside the sec suck, except for Oklahoma and Florida State. Duke puts up a good fight too, being a basketball school and all. TxHoops 1 Quote
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted August 19, 2014 Report Posted August 19, 2014 I'll say this: UT will have a better record than Agricultural & Mechanical. TxHoops and PN-G bamatex 2 Quote

TxHoops Posted August 20, 2014 Report Posted August 20, 2014 Is Johnathon Gray gonna come out and show why he was the #1 RB coming out of high school few years ago? Reports are good on his progress. However, the reports on Malcolm Brown are that he is bigger, stronger, and faster than he's ever been. He needs Ash to stay healthy to have a legitimate pass threat but I hear he is poised to have a heckuva season. (And he was also the #1 back in the country coming out of HS.) Quote
