@maddow: I know it’s late, but we’re having a heckuva time getting statewide Missouri officials to talk to us tonight about what’s happening there.

Hmmmmm, been that way since before tonight, I think I know why too.

@KyleStrunk: As a cop..this ferguson response is getting hard to watch..no leadership at all. Chief was about as lost a leader as I have ever seen today

@chrislhayes: I interviewed the key witness to the Michael Brown shooting last night.

The police haven't.

Think about that.

1. The police unfortunately are tied up with other things at this point in time.

2. Did this guy come forward and try to be interviewed by the police or did he seek out the media instead?

3. Do the police even know that he exists? I can tell from the many investigations that I have been involved with including murders, when you ask who has seen something, everyone was in the bathroom.

4. Who determined that this was a "key witness"..... the witness or Chris Hayes?

I'm wearing my gas mask tomorrow

This is a quote from the video.......

A guy getting over come with gas decides intead of not coming back tomorrow,  he will be better prepared tomorrow.....

Police Chief Thomas Jackson told a news conference on Wednesday the officer was treated in hospital for swelling on the side of his face.

This is not a reason to think he deserved to be shot, but it contradicts the "key witness" who claims Michael Brown had his hands up the entire time and was never the aggressor.

skeptical of that Ferguson police chief, he doesn't have it all in the head it seems. Glad other folks higher than him are investigating.

I have not been on this as much as you, but why skeptical? I think he was pretty smart to separate himself from the investigation.

FERGUSON, Mo. — Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson said he was driving with his kids on his way to lunch Saturday afternoon when a sergeant called him.

“He said there has been an officer involved shooting with one of your officers. And the other person is dead,” Jackson said. “I said: I’m on my way.”

Jackson said he made a u-turn, headed to the scene and, in the meantime, called the chief of the St. Louis County police and asked him to take jurisdiction.
