Bulldog92
It's a little early yet to be concerned about this, but I'm seeing speculation all over the weather sites that I follow (TWC, gulfcoastwx.com, Weather Underground; my other obsession besides sports) that there could be trouble in the Gulf bearing down on the coast somewhere by late next week. I figure it wouldn't be a bad idea to start a discussion just in case this becomes a bigger issue in a few days. http://www.weather.com/news/tropical-update-atlantic-pacific-hurricane-season-20140513
AggiesAreWe
Got my eye on it since it came out Monday. Some models have it as a Cat 1-2 making landfall near Galveston late Friday night (Aug.29) or early Saturday morning (Aug. 30) Other models have it making landfall in Louisiana. mighymouse490
yeah i saw this posted as it predicted by some crazy weather guy on facebook, but seems like it's possible. no talks here on the island to keep a heads up...i brouse storm2k.org myself
Bulldog92
The latest I saw this morning is almost the exact track that Rita took. With the Gulf water temps hovering between 85-89 degrees, a Cat 1-2 storm might be conservative. It's way too early to tell, but it'll be interesting to watch... shovel
I hope they are all full of bull and the storm dissapates. This time of year, storms continually slingshot off the African coast. I just hope none make landfall, especially in the Gulf. Alpha Wolf, Mr. Buddy Garrity and queenb77630

South Florida's almost certainly gonna get this thing one way or another. Mr. Buddy Garrity

queenb77630
the way i see it; National Hurricane Center doesn't show any projected areas to be hit because it is still way out there. I have not heard anything or read anything on our local weather stations. I do recall by the time it was "a week away" with Rita and Ike, everyone was talking about it and not just the far away weather know it alls. texas13
I've been watching the weather channel(my hobby outside of setxsports) and I don't believe it will come to Texas because of the ridge of high pressure that is fixing to move over us. But if the system slows and the high pressure moves on into Florida then the system will slide into the gulf which may cause some trouble for us and surrounding area. It has a 60% chance of becoming a tropical storm according to the weather channel.
AggiesAreWe
Got this little tid bit of info today from one of our local coaches and was confirmed by one of our local meteorologists. Every year that the San Antonio Spurs has won the NBA championship, a hurricane has hit the Texas coast.
