I only glanced through the description of the research, but if I understand this correctly, they're trying to determine the best fanbases by loyalty and dedication based on a number of factors. One of those factors is the stability of fan support during seasons where the program doesn't perform well, or at least as well as expected.

 

That's a double-edged sword for both UT and A&M.

Correct. It was actually pretty interesting. The group essentially created a formula where he could input empirical data to reach his results. Refreshing compared to the endless, mindless lists produced by "bleacherreport" and the likes.

If you go by the premise that fans vote with their pocketbook, you have to look at merchandise sales. UT is (and has been for a while) #1. Bama is #2. The rabid Aggie fans didn't make the top 10. They must be cheapskates!

Texas is already #1. How much higher would they be with standing, loud, drunk, obnoxious fans?

 

Texas fans are happy where they are, and they do not care about being another "12th Man". Everybody does not want to be like an Aggie.We will leave that to you.
