PhatMack19 Posted September 1, 2014 Author Report Posted September 1, 2014 No symptoms until after the game. He may be done with football for life. Quote
PhatMack19 Posted September 1, 2014 Author Report Posted September 1, 2014 Concussion? According to reports he was fine during the game and the symptoms came on later. He was taking a risk playing already, I wonder if doctors will ever let him back on the field. Quote

PhatMack19 Posted September 1, 2014 Author Report Posted September 1, 2014 @ESPNTexas: Texas QB David Ash will not play against BYU, Charlie Strong announces. Took a hit vs. North Texas. @mikefinger: Strong says Ash took a hit in the first quarter. Will be evaluated by medical staff. No timetable. Swoopes and Heard will play. @max_olson: Strong: Ash left stadium Saturday OK, called late Saturday night to report injury. Quote

Injuries are a huge part of football. It's called depth, so someone needs to step up. Quote
Peppermint Patty Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 Ash needs to walk away from football. He is in danger of serious medical conditions for the rest of his life. The university needs to protect him and themselves Swooped will start against BYU. Quote
TXHORN_ET Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 Agree that Ash needs to walk away and say it's over. Good Luck to him in his life. Now onto Swoopes to see of he steps up or not. Huge opportunity for Heard also. Quote
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 @MarkAGunnels: BSO: Texas QB David Ash To Miss Game vs BYU With Concussion http://bit.ly/1A0d0Vm via @thacover2 I knew this would happen just not this early. Quote
Eazy Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 Ash never should have been on the field this year. The success of Texas's season has been based upon Ash being healthy, which was a huge gamble. Now to hand it over to an unproven QB at this point could spell trouble for the Horns. On the optimistic side, BYU will now have to prepare for Swoops, so their defensive game plan will have to change. That 3.5 point spread is about to go the other way. Quote
Peppermint Patty Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 If the defense plays as well as they did, they will be ok. Not 10-2 ok, but 7-5 ok. Once again, there was a reason they retired Coach Brown. Quote
PhatMack19 Posted September 1, 2014 Author Report Posted September 1, 2014 On the bright side at least you have a 5 Star QB to take over for Ash. Who said Mack left the cupboard bare? Quote
westend1 Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 Hate it for Ash. Longhorns will face an 8 man front the rest of the year. Quote

Swoopes actually was rated as a 5 star by ESPN who are the hardest recruiting service to get the 5th star from. He was reclassified as an "athlete" after the Opening in Oregon where he couldn't hit the side of a barn. He was the #1 dual-threat qb in the state before that camp, much like Heard is now. Heard's performance was also sub-par at the Opening though. Quote
