I feel bad for Ash......good kid and an above average QB but as a dad, I cannot imagine his folks letting him play another snap.

I hear ya. Be curios to see how this is handled going forward. Got to be weighing heavy on the parents.

As a university subject to liability issues, UT needs to make the decision for him.

I do not believe that UT Medical will ever release him.

 

The coaching staff should make plans now to continue without him, then if he returns, it is a bonus.

 

The last time Texas started a 6' 5" sophomore QB, they had pretty good results. A Rose Bowl victory over Michigan, and "I'll be back".

I agree - no game or the potential financial rewards if good enough are worth the pains that another clear hit could cause.

UT Off Coordinator has not "ruled out' Ash playing again this season. Not a good sign.

Hopefully they are just saying that up front knowing it should not happen.

There is too much at stake. The possibility of a medical release is less than the Longhorns playing for NC this year.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about. In the initial ESPN rankings he was rated a 5* and the number 9 prospect overall in the country. After the Elite 11 camp at the Opening he was reclassified at an "athlete" and given 4 stars.

I've said the same thing many times. Except I thought it was a 1a school? I could be wrong.

On the downside, reports are he has struggled (to put it nicely) in practice this week.

They actually dropped his star ranking before his senior season started after the camp circuit. My wife is from Sherman which is not too far from Whitewright. While we were up there visiting on time my brother in law told me I needed to see this big qb that was killing folks up there at this little 2a school. I highly doubted I was going to be impressed. I then watched him rush for almost 550 yards and 7tds and throw for like 150 against Tom Bean I believe. I saw him throw it 50+ yards on a rope rolling to his right and the kid just dropped it. Going 1-9 wasn't really his fault, his team was awful and some folks say they were saving him because he had already committed to UT and they knew he would early enroll. Probably still should have won more games, IJS in his defense those were the issues.
