He'll be fine. The next two weeks he only has to play until halftime. He's tough and unless he's on his deathbed I don't think he's gone miss any gametime or even run less.

I am sure with the cracked vertebrae that some of the pain being experienced is from nerve damage. How can this get better with ice.short-term yes with less swelling, but long term I d not see how we can continue.

 

But I am a guru and an engineer, not a doctor. I tried to get into nursing school, but they thought that I was just chasing the girls. I guess I should not have kept showing up on Friday nights.

Petty wanted to play and the offense looked terrible. It had nothing to do with the heisman it had to do with getting the team ready for the big 12. Briles is old school and that rubs off on his players. They are tough.

I agree in part RaiderRed...........but in the end the kid does not make that decision. There is tough and there is stupid.

 

Had Petty taken one more good shot and been lost for 4, 6, 8 games Briles would have been roasted.

 

BUT, every athlete is one hit away from not playing

Sad part is that likely he will be targeted - not right but he will - I just hope that if they play him he does not make the injury worse.  From what I have read he is a quality young man and if healthy would have been one of the favorites for the Heisman.

Northwestern State, Buffalo, and bye is Baylor's schedule the next 3 weeks.


Heisman's are nice, but Baylor has a legit shot at winning the Big 12 and making the playoff if Petty is healthy. I would sit him 3 weeks and have him 100% for Iowa State on Sept 27th.

If nothing else, backup needs playing time in case he does go down.
