badndn Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 I hear ya Big D, but there was only one holding penalty all night on either team and no chop blocks called. There where a boat load of unexplainable calls, for both sides. And several obvious no calls like WOS defense in neutral zone at snap (3 players) on third down and less than five and no flags, but on the Late WOS fumble PNG was appearantly lined up offsides. Still aint figured out how we had an illegal man downfield on long pitch and catch to Sparks when our Linemen where all fighting for the life in the PNG backfield against WOS quick DLine. That negated a huge late first down and started a ten minute WTF by the officials trying to figure out where to spot the ball because they had already moved the chains. Our DB is beat in endzone and face gaurds sticks his hands up (which is legal in HS) and underthrown ball bounces off his hands into another trailing Defender for pick and nice return and we are called for PI. Kid was two yards from WR and never got close enough to even touch him. All of this happened in the second half. One obvious PI flag on WOS in second half and that was it. WOS came out and punched our boys in the mouth in the second half and showed that Mustang Pride that has them as the top program in the area year in and year out. I thought the loss to us last year fueled the run by WOS and maybe so will this win for them and this loss might do the same for PNG. Good to lose to great team early in the season and not late. Good Luck Stangs. Quote
Eagle91 Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 They said #32 Blake Lane was the illegal man downfield and he is an H-back. Quote
badndn Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 Oh yea, great WOS crowd. All of WO was in attendance. Quote
prepballfan Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 They called Blake as the illegal down field How id that posssible? Quote
Eagle91 Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 Not sure Faircloth was arguing with refs to no avail. Quote
VNUPE Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 We can go on and on about bad officiating. Both teams benefited from bad calls. However, as bad as we thought they were, they did not decide the outcome of the game. WOS held a high-powered PNG offense to zero points in the second half. The refs had nothing to do with that. The better team won last night. shovel and Tyler Dixson 2 Quote
Gasilla Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 No one understood the ineligible receiver call. The refs took forever to even figure anything out on that one It's because the down box guys moved before they were supposed to and the refs couldn't figure out where the ball was prior to the play or what down it was. Actually, the ball was supposed to be spotted on the 39 after the 5 yard penalty. After all of the "figuring" it wound up on the 41 (which went PNG way), but PNG let the time run out on the 3rd qtr and they switched ends and when they switched, somehow, the ball ended up on the 39 (which was actually where it was supposed to be but I don't think the refs meant for that to happen) and the PNG coaches didn't catch it. Also, if I'm not mistaken, an illegal man down field penalty is supposed to be a loss of down, but I could be wrong on that. MrUmp1 1 Quote
Eagle91 Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 Gotta get the run game going! If we can get the running game going.WOS didn't respect the run and was just pinning their ears back in the 2nd half. Great adjustments by the WOS coaching staff at halftime. Also PNG run defense has to improve. Big boys up front on both sides of the ball are being manhandled. Quote
Gasilla Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 The key to the win was WOS took its best defender and put him on your best receiver. DT shut him down and made your quarterback look for other options. And there wasn't any time for that because that "unimproved" defensive line had 7 sacks and several other "hurries" one of which resulted in a pick. VNUPE and outanup 2 Quote

Gasilla Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 Great LONG game! Both teams played their hearts out! Congrats WOS. Their my have been a lot of penalties, but I don't think their was one unsportsmanlike. They just got out there and played some ball. I would just like to say, as a band mom, that your little band broke my heart. They deserved a standing ovation for getting out there with what little they had. Why isn't more put into the band? We're trying to figure that out as well. Feel sorry for those kids.. PNG Proud and NDNation 2 Quote
Gasilla Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 Anytime it's a lot of flags, ppl blame the refs. Ever thought maybe it's week 2, both sides got a lot of young, inexperience players, and they are simply playing some undisciplined football. Should the refs ignore this, or should the coach correct this with his young players in practice? WOS Dline is ferocious, and get held, chop blocked, etc. very often. That is the only way some ppl can slow them down. TBH, I was at WB game which had about 50 penalties, and I thought it was the longest game ever, but I guess either they are calling the game a lot tighter this year or these coaches need to put more emphasis on fundamentals at practice. I wasn't there but off of stats alone, it's obvious that the move to put DT on Giblin was the difference. I seen #13 play WB, he is a grown man. PNG is a good team. The QB and Giblin are bonafied studs. Both these teams will do great this yr. WOS is going through a QB storm, yet they are 2-0. This is the kind of early season adversary that builds character in a team and make CHAMPIONS out of them. Best a Wishes to both teams. I'm upset I missed a hell of a game. You did Dime, it was an incredible game. Good post to by the way. stangx2 and PNG Proud 2 Quote
biaplayer Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 Its amazing how everytime we stopped wos a yellow hankie give em a first down. The refs dictated the whole second half. Illegal man down field, garbage call, our cornerback great position to pick off ball, gets tackled by your receiver flag thrown, then waived off. Interception by us given back on bs call, fumble recovery by us negated given back to yall. Your defense jumps offsides no call, all the facemask no calls on your defense, bologne, we stop yall on 3rd down throw bogus flag on hitting qb. Btw hope jack is ok. List goes on and on. At least scooter summed it up right lol. I'm not saying wos didny make adjustments in second half, I'm saying refs single handedly ruined this game. No excuse for not letting these two good teams play ball and go blow to blow toe to toe. PNG Proud 1 Quote
marshman Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 We're trying to figure that out as well. Feel sorry for those kids.. Yes, not taking anything at all away from those kids out there, there doing the best they can, but that is pretty sad seeing the size of the band. Its almost to the point of doing away with the band program if something doesn't change.. Quote
BigD 95 Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 Hey refs didn't put 33 points on the board. I have watched a lot of football, and typically when 30+ points are scored on your defense, you lose. Not to mention it was basically WOS 4th string QB, which moving him to QB also took away WOS best WR.. One thing is when you play the Stangs, you will learn a lot about your team's strengths and weaknesses, and vice versa playing PNG. Win or Lose, you can learn a lot from a game like this. Just take your lick, and build on it, don't blame refs, etc, because they are bad on every level. Easy for the fans to point fingers, but I bet if you ask the kids what happen, they would salute their opponent and tell you just how intense it is in a rival game like this. Both teams brought it, but I think the better team won, and I don't even think it's close if Dillon or Chase plays. JMO, but that's water under the bridge, good job to the guys that stepped up, especially Will, who probably hadn't taken a snap since his freshman year. Quote

PNG enrollment is about 3 to 1 ratio to WO-S and almost 2 to 1 ratio players suited out last night. About the only thing WO-S had more of was points. WO-S 33 PNG 27 Good luck to PNG VNUPE 1 Quote

No excuse for not letting these two good teams play ball and go blow to blow toe to toe. Sounds like a whole bunch of whine to me... You see things the way you want to see them. The waived off flag was because the ball was thrown 5 yards out of bounds and wasn't catchable. You had already got your PI on an uncatchable ball in the first half. The PI in the endzone was the model that they use to describe a PI. He was draped all over DT waiving his arms and never looked back. The guy who said he was no where close to him is delusional. That was one of the calls they got right. I think PNG got hosed on the illegal man downfield call and the and the offsides call. WOS definitely got hosed on the PI near the endzone in the first half because that ball wasn't catchable. and in the 4th qtr when your player pushed our RB a good 2 yards out of bounds that sent him to the track and almost got him hurt. Gasilla Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 Is a horse collar legal in High School? A horse collar IS illegal, but again, you didn't see one... know the rules... It's only a horse collar if they are pulled down by it. On the sack he didn't pull him down by the horse collar. He grabbed it but did not pull him down. That's NOT illegal. NDOMAKONG 1 Quote
kicker Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 Watching that VYPE video, DT is the real deal. He just comes from nowhere and made the pic look effortless.
