Can We Presume?

Since our southern border is wide open, can we presume that bad elements have passed through undetected?  Can we presume that maybe the Ebola virus, ISIS, members Mexican drug cartel and general thugs from South America may have passed through and into America?  I know some will still blame Bush. Bush allowed for easy access for children of sexual abuse and sex trafficking from South America.  Well, this is more touchy-feely that didn't turn out good.  Touchy-feely usually never does.  But, obama could stop it at any time.  I just heard that only 20% of those invading our border is children.  So, 80% is not Bush's fault. Again, obama could stop it.

We have secured borders NOT to keep good people out but to keep the bad elements out.  Why do lock our doors?  To keep good people out?  No!  To keep the bad invading our homes.  So, why is obama allowing his?

That is true but when a state tried exactly that, it was contested in federal court and the Obama administration sided with stopping the states from doing it individually.

Exactly.

The states are caught in a catch-22. Every time they stand up and do something to deal with the immigration crisis and its numerous consequences, this administration comes in claiming it's a federal responsibility (which is true) and that it should be left to the feds to enforce the law (which is arguably half true). But when the states leave it alone, the fed does nothing, and occasionally even does worse than nothing by picking and choosing which laws it will and will not enforce or loosening its policies to open up major holes in the system.

I personally think the Democrats want it that way. Ronald Reagan was onto something when he said that Hispanics are really Republicans deep down and just don't know it yet. When you look at polls regarding the individual issues, Hispanics almost always side overwhelmingly with what would generally be identified as the Republican side. They don't like taxes, they don't like abortion, they generally don't like regulations, they don't like big government and they're generally pro-business. The single issue where they side overwhelmingly with Democrats is immigration, and that one issue is so influential in the Hispanic community that it almost singlehandedly keeps the Hispanic vote in the Democrat column. If we dealt with that issue, the Democrats would almost assuredly lose that vote, and they are scared to death of that. Thus, keeping the system broken, and keeping immigration a headline issue, becomes the politically logical thing for the Democrats to do.

Much was made of AZ and their new laws on immigration but current federal law allows local law enforcement to act as federal agents. As such, AZ never needed to pass their immigration law as the United States Code already allows exactly what they did.

Unfortunately 8 USC 1357 says that the Attorney General of the USA can enter into an agreement allowing local law enforcement to act in lieu of federal agents with training of the proper laws by the AG however he and his boss will not use this standing federal law. It was probably very effective which is why this administration will not use or enforce current federal law. In fact they fought it in court and when they lost part of it, they publicly said that they would refuse to enforce the laws in AZ.

I thought you guys wanted less big government so individual states can do their thing?

Oh wait..

Any time there is a constitutional issue we will side with that.  Securing our border is one of them.  Along them same lines, you are right, we also believe in the 10th Amendment.
