baseball_1989 Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 Baseball incoming FreshmanWho are the Freshman that will be difference makers at the Varsity level in Baseball this year . probably nobody at the bigger schools. This is my opinion... Dont move a freshman up to a varsity level, simply because the lack of experience. Another big thing is this, say the kids a pitcher... he gets rocked his first year; what does that do for the next couple of years? It takes his confidence away. Always have your freshman players start off on a sophomore of jv team!

tvc184 Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 .............But why penalize a talented, experienced player because of his age alone?...........................How much more experience does a freshman have then a senior? I think every high school player that I have known started in PeeWee league just like the rest of them. I would say that each senior probably has three years more experience that each freshman.
numbertwo Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 I don't know how, but I have a hunch freshmanphenom is Josh Clark.
I Tell It Like It Is Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 Matt Hicks and Joe Robertson- both played great in the past weekends tourney.
Guest freshmanphenom Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 trey hester is also a good incoming one from vidor.. the kid can hit and he can pitch.. also jace statum and jacob felts these guys are lagit. felts has the potential to be very good .. statum has blazing speed and is a good hitter..
Guest freshmanphenom Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 ive seen hicks play.. hes a great hitter and provides outstanding power.. he also has a good arm

txballa Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 I don't know how, but I have a hunch freshmanphenom is Josh Clark. i know for a fact that freshman phenom is not josh clark!!
play-ball!! Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 here at PNg we got a freshman Kane benoit starting at shortstop
phdoc Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 well we have now heard from all the dad's except Danny!!!!!
HFHORNS Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 Well lets see...........Hamshire Fannett had all of 3 freshman try out for their baseball team. We went from three teams last year, to barely being able to field a jv and varsity team. That doesn't say much for our baseball program. Its looking pretty bleak for the years to come. By the way, one of the 3 freshman quit already.
piratesportsmom Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 deweyville has a freshman named garret haney thats got a really good glove in the field and also bats switch.. definately making a difference for us this year.
kem up 10 Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 Matt Hicks from bc is a vacum at shortstop, and has a stick to go with it. He helped bc defensivly alot in last weeks tourny. And Joe Robertson is also a good catcher with a great stick. These boys will help this team on the road to state again this year

cardinal81o7 Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 i was a little sceptical of a rumor of a freshman that was supposed to start at short....but i got to know him and im here to tell you that matt hicks is the real deal. and robertson is doing his role just fine right now..our fish are pretty solid.
Coach 18 Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 I don't know how, but I have a hunch freshmanphenom is Josh Clark.Josh Clark is a great player! He leads the Buna team in hitting right now hitting well over .600. He has started at ss, 3b, and CF for the Cougars. He is the real deal.

Always have your freshman players start off on a sophomore of jv team!Lack of experiece should no longer be a concern for most of the freshman that have varsity ability. These guys play year round baseball these days all over the country. They have seen just about everything theyre going to see in a varsity game already before the season even starts. If they are a pitcher, chances are theyve already thrown in bigger games than a non-district game agaisnt some high school team... Most of these guys play all summer long once high school baseball is over. They see all kinds of stuff and are put in all kinds of situations. If the kids good enough to be there, put him there.Kane Benoit from PNG and Matt Hicks from BC are for real ball players. Outstanding fielders, good hitters, and mentally sharp. They will be special players for years to come.
