TxHoops Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 They've played against 1 supposed quality opponent in South Carolina. a@m schedule is fixing to get a bit more difficult. Until they win the SEC West, it doesn't matter how well they do or who they beat along the way. Same for Texas. They can beat North Texas, New Mexico State, and Kansas all they want, but until they stand toe to toe and finally win against a quality opponent, it doesn't matter. Arkansas would be considered a quality opponent, no? Or does it have to be a "ranked" team? Not being a smart aleck, serious question. Quote
Pirate88 Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 South Carolina is no longer ranked after being beat by Missouri. That victory is not carrying that much weight any more. Quote

LocknLoad Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 ^^^ Doesn't affect it as Mizzou is in the East...GIG'EM Quote
Baba Ganoush Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 ^^^ Doesn't affect it as Mizzou is in the East... GIG'EM Mizzou in the weak East, Indiana plays basketball...Indy beats mizzou, mizzou beats SC, it affects it. Aggie has zero wins v currently ranked teams. Ipso facto...cupcake schedule Quote
TXHORN_ET Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 Arkansas is on the way back after being down for several years now. Their brand of football, although not extremely exciting, is refreshing to see. One problem they face is the conference they are in. Maybe the SEC West should secede and start their own conference. How exciting would the SWC be today if several teams had not bolted for greener pastures. Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote
TXHORN_ET Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 Didn't BYU claim a national championship back in 1984 by not playing against any ranked opponents? Quote

PhatMack19 Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 Schedule smack talk is awesome! Quote
TXHORN_ET Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 They all count. It wasn't long ago that horn fans were getting all over aggie saying they counted their spring game as a win. Texas might need to petition the NCAA to count the spring game as a win so we'll be able to become bowl eligible this season. Quote

Who outside the top 10 has better wins than A&M? Ouside Bama, since it seems they have found a quarterbck, who has been overly impressive ? Oregon nearly lost to Washington State . Florida State has been meh. Auburn? Baylor? Things get sorted out in the next couple of weeks. Quote
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 Who outside the top10 has a better wins than Oregon? Oregon has a win over (at the time) #7 Michigan State, who hasnt fell off the deep end like South Carolina. Yeah you right, it'll get sorted out real soon. Quote
Anafanatic Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 Some of you folks are just silly...currently unranked South Carolina did beat currently ranked #13 Georgia...so all of the Aggies victories technically are carrying the same weight. Don't be haters folks...win and you're in, it's that simple. And speaking of haters, most of you had South Carolina destroying A&M in week one anyway...where'd that get ya? Up to this date A&M still has the most impressive victory this season outside of Oregon defeating Michigan State...IMO Quote
TXHORN_ET Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 I sure thought South Carolina was ranked when they played Georgia. Once again maybe I'm mistaken. Quote
PhatMack19 Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 I sure thought South Carolina was ranked when they played Georgia. Once again maybe I'm mistaken. They were #24, Georgia was #6. They shouldn't do rankings until week 3 or 4, but I guess preseason rankings give the media something to talk about. Quote
TXHORN_ET Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 Both Georgia and South Carolina have ways of taking themselves out of contention. I have no idea who the front runners are in the sec east. I really don't think it matters seeing how the sec west is superior. Quote
PN-G bamatex Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 Teams like South Carolina are why I say Florida might be a dark horse pick to win the SEC East. Quote
TXHORN_ET Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 Watch out for Kentucky to have their say. Quote

And you are saying that rankings are misleading until now...so overrated #9 in preseason= not currently ranked= cupcake Quote

PN-G bamatex Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 A buddy of mine actually built a ranking system of his own for a statistics research project. It does not factor in preseason bias. And it still ranks Texas A&M in the top 10 with the win over South Carolina. Interestingly enough, his program also ranks conferences and conference divisions. It has the SEC ranked the best conference and the SEC West ranked the best conference division. Ironically, it has the SEC East ranked the worst conference division in the Power 5. Quote
Baba Ganoush Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 Up to this point, aggie probably has played the toughest...just shows how weak the scheduling is across the Nation. Everyone, play somebody. No more cash grabs for little schools. Entertain me!!! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2E4xXiqyEb0 Quote
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 Watch out for Kentucky to have their say.favorite SEC East school, but im sad to say Stoops is one more class away from a special year. They will get close this yr though. Quote

A better description would be non-conference. Pre-season only belongs to the pro's. Your friend need to CR his work and sell it to the selection committee. I'm afraid they are going to have their hands full at the EOY. SPCFBG Quote
