rykerx144 Posted September 29, 2014 Report Posted September 29, 2014 Wow what passion everybody has for their teams it's amazing. I personally would like to discuss FACTS that are present. Culture on the field and before these young men step out on Friday nights, means a great deal as to the performance they will display on the field. The culture at WOS is second to none to any other HS football team in the area. I'm not saying that other teams do not have culture, however, tradition at WOS is strong, deep, and is practiced as early as when these young Stangs are in their pee wee leagues. At WOS its' a culture of community, and commitment that the parents, and coaches, instill verbally that VALUE is not only in the money that a person has , but in the effort that they bring to any project that they are involved in. Winning is tradition at WOS. With that said, WOS stands tall always have always will. The scores of games past and present speak for themselves, would have should have does not count, what truly matters is how motivated these young men are, and how prepared they will be to go out on Friday nights and complete their task. Go Mustangs and coaches Best Luck to you! I agree, but second to none I disagree. You could make the same argument with PNG and Newton. studd88 and Mr. Buddy Garrity 2 Quote
ladybug33 Posted September 29, 2014 Report Posted September 29, 2014 Absolutely, PNG has tradition of winning, as does other teams, I can only speak for what i know to be true at WOS. Hey I remember back when we were West Orange Chiefs, I did enjoy the rivalry between those two schools that is still present today. The golden triangle is known for great high school football. I agree with one of the writer that said his son is not in football, I second that. My son is a 17 year old senior 6ft-3 inches tall, 293lbs has a offensive linemen body with natural talent. I am disappointed that he does not want to play football at his high school here in Spring Texas at Dekaney High School. He is more involved in academics which I am most proud of, due to attend college this coming summer. I can only imagine if he was attending WOS and involved in that culture, things might have been different. would have could have does not count though. HA HA. great post everyone. Rake1 1 Quote

Great statement, but results matters. Newton has state championships, so does PNG have any championships lately?. I am not aware of any but I could be wrong though. The more championships the merrier for the area of the golden triangle. Quote
SouthEastPigskins Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 We are all gonna get on here and post and take up for our teams that's true fans and I respect those fans. Come playoff time it's not about one team it's about every team from south east thS in the playoffs because it makes us look good. He'll were not houston or Dallas but southeast can dang sure keep up with the houston and the Dallas and show them what football is in the golden triangle. ladybug33 1 Quote
Gasilla Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 And to the 2002 and 2003 seasons, you are correct, Central went to the playoffs and WO-S didn't. Quite simply the only real reason that occurred is that despite to doing their level best, the Mustangs didn't do what they needed to do. Just like in all 14 games between the Stangs and the Jags, all coaches and players on BOTH sides did their level best to win the ballgame, 11 times the Stangs were successful and 3 times they were not. No excuses. ^^^^^^ Holla! Quote
ladybug33 Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 @SouthEastPigskins Cool, there are a lot of former residents from Orange, Beaumont, and parts of the golden triangle who live in H-Town. Some of us are still rooting for teams back there. Whenever one team has lost during the playoffs, I always root for the remaining teams that continue to play past the golden triangle area. Even though I have lived in Houston for many many years, and have taught in the school system here, I can not forget the rich tradition that we have back home. It would be nice to meet LaMarque sometime later in the playoff to see if we match up well with them. Time will tell. It dose not appear that we will be facing our old foe Navasota this year though. Stangs all the way! Quote
Goblin Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 I would adore to face LaMarque again for the first time since 2000 but they have to go up against the Hawks who will definitely win Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote
GATA! Posted October 1, 2014 Report Posted October 1, 2014 Yeah... but that's to be expected playing a school with 2000 students when we have less than 600.,....keep this in mind when y'all come to newton lol.....j/k Quote

ozensfinest Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 We all know what happens every single time WOS plays someone as good or better than them...take Navasota for example did whatever they wanted to do with WOS secondary and that #1 defense in the state. Lol Quote

Lol Mmmhm... when's the last time Ozen beat WOS? 2002... 6-7 in a squeaker. The difference with Navasota and Carthage is that they were State Champions.... there's no shame in losing to that in addition to holding Carthage to 2 TDs less than ANY of the other 15 teams they played last year. Foster is the #7 5A team in the state and I'm looking forward to see how they do against the local 5A teams in the playoffs. Good luck! . You'll definitely need it. :) Newton is one of the best programs in the state at their level and has a fine tradition. Not gonna happen this week though. Quote

So how can WOS fans predict a state championship run when statistics show that you guys have a had time with teams that actually make state runs? Sounds a little hypocritical to me don't ya think? Sounds a little hypocritical to me don't ya think? Lol Because every team WO-S has had a problem with is kind of down this year. No-one in the region has as much talent as them and it is very likely WO-S will have a ring come December. This is the only year I've seen fit for them to possibly win state. Last year they had a good chance too. Quote
