Guest Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 You made my point, Huff and Puffington is an SETX school who we BEAT in the playoffs. Don't think ya'll could have handled Navasota, CS, and Carthage either. Not on the same level as Newton, lol. Newton beats us for the VERY FIRST TIME and suddenly the WOS program is not on the same level. If WOS isn't in the discussion statewide, then Huff and Puffington is not even in the discussion in the universe. Wow, sorry we take pride in having the program with the highest winning percentage in the history of Texas high school football. Good luck to Huff and Puffington who will be playing basketball when we are still playing football. Again, not sure why you think Huffman is a concern. As far as Huffman is concerned, I suspect it will come down to when they face Navasota to determine the exit date. Similar to WOS exit date will occur when they catch LaGrange or LaMarque (I am assuming they will not catch HJ until a regional final). Newton is a threat for state championship nearly every year. WOS never. That is how they are "not on the same level". In addition, Newton is outright better this year. Quote

That loss was actually a win for WOS, just wait until 10-31 No, sorry, I'm waiting to see if my 15 page research paper on Middle Eastern Economies and Political Systems was just good enough for the A or if it's going to make it into publication. Ridiculous. If the loss was a win, then why is WO-S 4-2 rather than 5-1? If all you can do is take shots at my age, then get outta here. You're obviously too ignorant to be taken seriously anyways. Seeya on Halloween. Didn't know there was a Middle EASTER. Guess, I don't have that great Beaumont education. Had to kid you though I know it is a typo. I agree with a loss being a loss but I think he was trying to say it may have woke our kids up. I know what he was implying, but in my opinion it was the exact opposite for WO-S. Now every team in the district has seen them lose two games already this year, one to a struggling Newton team. You can bet that every team wants to get revenge for what West Orange has done in the past. I don't care how you spin it, a loss is a loss. To try and take anything positive away from that (the moral victory or loss being a win crap) or for a loss to be acceptable in the WO-S program further proves that they aren't the WO-S of old. And yes, awful typo, probably discredited my argument more than anything. Ha! stangx2 1 Quote

MICHAEL1987 Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 I have seen WOS play this year and watched Newton get beat by Orangefield, this is not the same Newton team that Orangefield beat or its not the same WOS team I watched play. I believe that if they played ten more times WOS would win ten times. Oh by the way I am not from WOS, I usually pull against them till they get to the playoffs. Quote

Back to the history argument? Is that seriously the best thing you could come up with? Wanna talk history? I'll move you over to basketball, and shut you up real quick. That's definitely not something you want to get into. Nonetheless, the past is just that - gone forever. Prime example: Chicago Bears, 2nd most NFL Championships in the history of the NFL. Since it became the Superbowl, they've won once. Full of history, but where has that gotten them this year? But hey, let's see how far your history takes you this year! Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote

Time will tell. WO-S did beat HJ last year in basketball (both times) But, don't even begin to compare the history of WO-S basketball to Hardin-Jefferson basketball. You lose that argument very quickly. As for WO-S to be in decline in basketball, you are correct, time will tell. But I am confident that the team will not be as good as the Mustang team of the last two seasons. I know what they had and what is coming up. Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote

stangx2 Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 Yes hj has a lot of basketball history, I certainly would not debate that. However, it's a football thread and sorry to tell them that football pays the bills. WOS needs a more competitive district and I am glad to see them doing well. Got to say that WOS should be much better in basketball than what we have been, we should put more importance on that area of our program. It should not be when one sport is on an elite level the rest should suffer. Aggies, what area do you think WOS is weaker? Lost two offensive lineman (at least to the best of my recollection), both linebackers I believe, one starting cb (two if you count james), Chris James at rb, and then the QB attrition in the offseason. Not really a large loss from the team from last year. Now if you say the line isn't playing up to its capabilities, I can possibly agree with that. If you say the Qb is inconsistent because he is young, I might possibly can agree with that. However, Mr. Cole took a few games to get his footing as well. I think this is just as talented a team overall as last year, but i would agree not as good as two years ago. Now are we playing as well as last year, you might have a case there. However, most people said we couldn't hang with PNG and Foster and we did. Would this discussion be taking place had we drummed Newton? Now next year, I expect us to start slow and who knows. We will be loosing a lot of talent this year. Aggie, let me say I do value your opinion highly. Quote

Well Sir you or correct this is not the same Newton team that played Orangefield if Newton played them 10 more times Newton would beat the bobcats 10 times in a row. I don't believe WOS would beat Newton 10 out of 10 this year though they couldn't block Newton all night up front the QB never could set his feet and make good throws all night Quote
