Murph Posted October 17, 2014 Report Posted October 17, 2014 I am not a Tarkington Fan and they are no longer in Huffman's District but i find myself pulling for them every year because they hold the second longest record for playoff droughts being 1956 since the last time they made it to the playoffs and I believe the only time in schools history. This year at 5-1 and teams still to play that have not looked good it seems their drought may come to an end. So here is to Tarkington, Good luck and would love to see you break this streak 8-4A-II District Overall W-L W-L Tarkington 1-0 5-1 Coldspring-Oakhurst 1-0 4-2 Diboll 1-0 1-5 Shepherd 0-1 3-3 Huntington 0-1 1-5 Madisonville 0-1 1-5 http://www.texasfootball.com/all-time-playoff-appearances/ rangers12 1 Quote
Back2swag Posted October 17, 2014 Report Posted October 17, 2014 Playoffs pretty watered down , anyone can make it these days .. I wouldn't worry to much Quote

The money power brokers at the UIL are working hard to make it so. Playoffs of the near future: EVA-BODY GETS IN! Quote
no-look Posted October 17, 2014 Report Posted October 17, 2014 I can sympathize with Tarkington but it will be hard but not impossible. They will have to win tonight. Diboll and Madisonville should get in with Coldspring. Quote

Hupernikomen Posted October 17, 2014 Report Posted October 17, 2014 The playoff teams will be Tarkington, Coldspring, Shepherd and Diboll. Coldspring will win the district and 2nd through 4th is anyone's guess at this point. Tarkington versus Shepherd will be a huge game tonight in determining placement in playoffs. no-look 1 Quote
Guest Posted October 17, 2014 Report Posted October 17, 2014 I am definitely pulling for Tark, too. I think they are on their way. They are definitely on their way. They will not be on their way next year when the "on their way" players graduate. They need to get it done this year because next year they will be back to Tarkington. With that being said, I am happy for them now. Quote

Woodshed Posted October 18, 2014 Report Posted October 18, 2014 Yep wasn't their best showing but I would at least upgrade them from horrible to below average. :-) Quote
Chazz Reinhold Posted October 18, 2014 Report Posted October 18, 2014 Tarkington's last playoff appearance was 1954, which was also their first year of 11-man football. They didn't have a coach so the ag teacher filled in for the year. Quote
