BLUEDOVE3
Barkley has a lot of validity in his comments, I would agree. BUT!!!!!!!! lets not confuse criticism of Black people by other Black people as "the" focal point for not being successful.
CraigS
Barkley has a lot of validity in his comments, I would agree. BUT!!!!!!!! lets not confuse criticism of Black people by other Black people as "the" focal point for not being successful. From what I got out of reading his comments....YOU are exactly what he was talking about. This also goes along with the worrying about white on black crime / police on black unjustified shootings etc. The true honest problems do not sale news papers or increase the TV ratings or create votes for a certain party. Most people (at least good managers), when looking to clean up a failed situation first make a list of said failures. Then they prioritize based on biggest problems to smaller ones. Then proceed by eliminating the bigger problems first, which will have the greater impact on turning the fail situation around. Fixing the nickel and dime stuff first does nothing but create a smoke and mirror affect to appear (only to certain people) that something is actually being done. The black on black crime or black on black anything (single parent households) is the biggest problem...start with cleaning your own house before worrying about the neighbors. There's nothing worse IMO, when a person gets caught or being disciplined says....but he/she did such and such.....and that's worse, or that's this or that's that.....shut the heck up...you got caught, you are reeking the consequences of YOUR actions....nothing anyone else did has any bearing on that.... Bottom line - until the black on black crime rate and blacks being born to single mothers are resolved from within the black community, BY the black community.....all else is BS....smoke and mirrors! 77

You say that there is a lot of validity to what Barkley has to say. But then you suggest that the things Barkley talks about have little to do with blacks not being successful. Which is it? It the lack of personal accountability and being responsible for fixing your own mess....and it's NOT just a Black thing...it's a "you owe me something society" thing........... Big girl
Barkley made a blanket statement. Isn he saying that ALL"unintelligent" people try to hold back "intelligent" black people? That is completely illogical. I have not experienced it, neither has by son who visited Rice, Yale, Baylor, UT and TAMU, upon their request.Harvard, Brown, Cornell, and Princeton are offering him academic schlorships as well. He gets letters every day from colleges. There are at least 100 colleges recruiting him due to his academic prowess. . What irritates him the most is when people of other races tell him "you are smart and articulate for a black guy" as if they are stunned.

stevenash
what about white on white crime, 86% of white people are killed by white people according to the justice department. What is the white community doing about that?Well, first of all, they are allowing the police to do their job without running around looting and screaming for justice before they have any idea what has happened. And they also do not bring in "speakers" from the other side of the country to stir up more hatred. bullets13, outanup, SteelerCzy and 1 other

Big girl
I bet some of you guys miss the days when a white person could kill a black guy in front of 28 black people and no one said anything, because they were afraid. Oh how sad it is that black people have civil rights activists that will stand up for our rights, " race baiters" as some of you call them. CraigS
Why do you guys keep trying? It's our attempt at showing compassion for the less fortunate....it is our (conservatives) opinion that it's better to educate and help others help themselves rather than just GIVE it to them... -It's best to teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime, than give a man a fish and feed him for a day. 5GallonBucket

77
I am not old enough to remember that but I am old enough to remember when black families stayed together and mom and pop raised their kids before it was cool to have babies and never marry or take part in raising that child and thats not just black families its a culture that the liberals embrace kinda like poor pitiful me nothings my fault! Big girl
Can you handle your own business or do you need Al Sharpton to act on your behalf? I am not nationally known so if a racial incident happens I.e. My 17 year old son being gunned down by racist police officers without provocation ( not all are racist) then I will call All Sharpton. You guys think I should sit back and not say anything. Those days are long gone.
