#62jjohnson Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 im not taking shots at the team , its the UIL . I thought you had to WIN district games to get in , right ? well scarborough hasnt won a game period !!!! so isnt that a contradiction ? i will answer it , YES !!!! what about neighboring district teams that won 2 district games but will be at home next week , is that fair to them ? well i have said it time and time again 4 is too many teams going in . yes i know you will have a cinderella story like gladewater last year coming out the district of doom with a 4-6 record and go 4 deep in the playoffs and finish 7-7 . were they a bad team that got in because of the 4 team getting in system , or did they just hit their peak at the right time ? because they did better than the district runner up (gilmer ) . i just dont think a team with a losing record 4-6 or 3-7 should get in , hell even when it started being 2 teams per district back in 82 westbrook at least went 6-4 (winning record) and we all know how that ended . we do have too remember it was a lot of holdovers from that 1981 hebert team that had played in the semifinals and would loose to willowridge 14-15. plus they were coached by alex durley , enough said . #1 NDNFAN 1 Quote
Eazy Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Jerry Ball and that Hebert team knocked us out in bi-district that year. We played them in '80 too. Quote

Eazy Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Yep. Beat them in '80 on the way to State. 9-1 Navasota stayed home cause they didn't win district. Times have changed since you can now go in at 0-10. Quote

Guest ECBucFan Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 The problem lies with the formation of 5 team districts. You are ASKING for poor, weak teams in the playoffs with 4 of 5 going in from that. No one in the bottom half a district should get in. Personally I wish for 2 teams only getting in, and thats only from 8 team districts. At the very least they should limit it to 4 teams in out of an 8 team district, and 2 out of any district that has less than 8. Quote
sbparent Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Someone asked back on page 2, where does the money go? Good question!!! Anyone know if it can be viewed online? UIL has a budget and I would guess they are required to produce some form of financial statements. Doesn't every school pay a fee at beginning of the year to "be a member" of UIL? Quote

dBerrySports Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 While it is utterly ridiculous that Scarborough makes the playoffs, I feel bad for those kids. Their numbers aren't that great and they go through crazy turnovers with coaches. It's almost an impossible job to deal with. I hope they do win a game sometime soon. I can't imagine all that losing and what it does to a kid. bone 1 Quote

I also hope that they dont do stupid things in the game out of desperation and get someone hurt. Im in no way saying they are like that, but when you have nothing to lose........... Quote

Footballer06 Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Only in the State of Texas.. This is the product of taking 4 teams from each district... Making the playoff isnt what it used to be... Splitting the lower classifications ahead then sending four instead of two doubled everyones chances. Its ridiculous. Its embarrassing for some. After 1st Q WOS will have its JV on the field and it still could end up a 90 point route. Sure is. Just look how watered down 22-5A district is now. It's a shame.... Quote
Stattrax Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Yeah your right, add a few schools from around Houston, then bam... It all goes down hill.. Quote

Coach says "Boys , its been a long season , but across that field are a bunch of guys just like you who think they have NFL talent. 2 maybe 3 may go on to play in college but the others will be in line at college registration just like you. So go on and give it your best , hell , come december hundreds of thousands of boys will have played their last high school game. Just make sure you get that college degree. When the guys are taking a break swapping old high school football stories about how great they were and what they were "ranked" , you can walk in and say breaks over , get your tails back to work you bunch of has beens; by the way i was on that team yall beat down. Then return to your corner office and kick your feet up.😆 Quote

Guest Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 How about everyone that's complaing quit crying and just worry about your team.. Beat the team you get scheduled in the playoffs and move on.. Quote
no-look Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Said that a few days ago,I don't like to have to play a team like this, they may play very dirty Saw Scrabrough play this year. They were down 56-0 at half. Didn't see any bad sportsmanship. Felt really bad for them. They looked athletic but didn't have any fundamentals. They only had eleven show up for two a days and had a few show up later. They should go outlaw schedule or scrap the sport IMHO. Quote
