chukslegacy Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 This years WOS team no doubt is a quality ball club but if you want to compare them to last years team then that could be misleading. Just ask yourself a question, would this years team handle the same opponents like last years team in district and playoffs. I feel like last year was WOS chance to make it to state but a few mistakes on players and coaches and we lost to a team WOS should have beat. JMO Quote

VNUPE Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 I thought we always were able to run the ball To a certain extent. I Don't know the exact stats, but I do know we didn't have any back to run for more than 200 yards against a very good defense. We have a very healthy balance this year. And I believe we've gotten better with that balance at the right time. griff, Gasilla and Bumblebee97 3 Quote
Morris_era Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 Im not saying that we aren't balanced this year because we are but at the same time we were balanced last year also. So it's crazy to say this is the first time in years Quote

I Agree we had a very good chance to make it to state. However, I believe this year we have a better chance than last year. Because of the realignment, we're matched up against teams with equal enrollment. That means a lot. I Believe this years team is more balanced than last year. We have more guys who are able to run the ball effectively. That's what you need in the playoffs. Had that balance been there last year, we would have beaten Carthage. Gasilla and skipper 2 Quote

Bumblebee97 Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 I agree VNUPE JAMES was WOs best back but had to spend so much time on defence. that took a lot out of him. imo. Gasilla and VNUPE 2 Quote

skipper Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 the kids at west orange stark and the coaching staff have sent a message to other coaches in the playoffs .#1.we can run with power and speed.#2.we can pass with the best of them. #3.we have kids who can take it all the way after the catch GOOD HANDS PEOPLE with outstanding speed after the catch. #4. the mustangs very young QB HAS COME A LONG WAYS up to this point he can read trams DEFENSE alot better than the first hafe of the year he takes pride in himself and his team and its starting to show each game more and more and he will take off on you if needed some what like the GILMER QB last year.there has been alot of talk about DEIONTE THOMPSON he is one of the better dbs in the country ,he loves to take it to you thats his style of football and on the flip side playing wr teams have tryed to cover him all year long NO DISE he is one of a kind and will most likely will make high school all american team mabe not first team but he will make it on 2nd team. now in closeing coaches do not like to punt are kick off deep to the mustangs return kids I WOUNDER WHY. Yes due to the alignment we have now dropped to a level like you said that evenly matches us against schools with similar enrollment, not like last year where we faced opponents that double us in enrollment. But water under the bridge! Either way Mustangs are a force to be reckon with! Had the weather not been like it was there might have been a different outcome also. VNUPE and skipper 2 Quote

skipper Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 NO TIME TO RELAX THIS FRIDAY.the kids will be playing a very good solid team in giddings,if the mustangs come out cold it might be a long night and a long drive home.but on the other hand if they come out on fire WATCH OUT ,i do not know anything about giddings i feel sure they are good and ready to knock heads. ladybug33 Posted November 19, 2014 Report Posted November 19, 2014 I agree Giddings appear to have a few kids who are well over 200 pounds, if the rain is present, that will play in the Mustangs favor IMO. Quote
