tvc184 Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 This is the last surge of cold weather before all the ice caps melt next April and raise the global sea level 15 feet, swamping most of populated USA and ending life as we know it. HEAD FOR THE HILLS!!! 77 1 Quote

77 Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 Another way for the elite to line their pockets while the entire time they talk about strengthening the middle class! Keep believing they care about you and keep putting them in office and see where ya end up! Quote

tvc184 Posted November 19, 2014 Report Posted November 19, 2014 Yep...all while we are experiencing near record low temperatures. Obviously you don't understand science and extreme cooling is a critical point of heating. :D LumRaiderFan 1 Quote
LumRaiderFan Posted November 19, 2014 Report Posted November 19, 2014 Obviously you don't understand science and extreme cooling is a critical point of heating. :D I guess not...for some strange reason I assumed global warming meant the globe would become warmer. Thank goodness for the "experts". Quote
SKINS Posted November 19, 2014 Report Posted November 19, 2014 Global warming my butt, its 20 degrees in Florida. Quote

baddog Posted November 19, 2014 Report Posted November 19, 2014 20 degrees in Florida does not prevent global warming. The earth's temperature can rise 1 degree over a 10 year span and that is a warming trend. Do I think it is something to be upset about?......NO! I think there is evidence of a slight warming trend and I believe it is cyclical, but that's just me. Where the Dems lose me is their exaggeration of causes, most of which are aimed at emissions that fall under EPA guidelines, which we all know are impossible to follow to the letter. If we followed EPA guidelines to a tee, all our factories and plants would have to shut down. I know I am going to catch heck for this post because I am a conservative, but I go with my gut. Quote
westend1 Posted November 19, 2014 Report Posted November 19, 2014 The earth is warmer than it was 80 years ago. Man made? Who knows? Every "expert" has a different opinion depending on who is paying them. Quote

One thing that keeps popping up is that there was considerable "warming" in the 30's and if so , I would like to understand why? Quote

stevenash Posted November 20, 2014 Report Posted November 20, 2014 Good links- thank you- the only thing that I wonder about is their methods to "estimate" average temperatures from a long time ago. Looks to me like these estimates are not as precise as they ought to be when we are discussing temperature changes of 1 or 2 degrees over very long periods of time. Quote
westend1 Posted November 20, 2014 Report Posted November 20, 2014 Tried to provide the most reliable links I could find, unlike some other posters on this site. Quote
tvc184 Posted November 20, 2014 Report Posted November 20, 2014 The earth is warmer than it was 80 years ago. Man made? Who knows? Every "expert" has a different opinion depending on who is paying them. That is what Bill O'Reilly has always says on the evil Fox News. There is plenty of evidence that the earth is warmer over a long time period (however it might start trending the other way). The big debate is whether it is a typical cycle, man made or some kind of combination. Quote
smitty Posted November 22, 2014 Author Report Posted November 22, 2014 Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!! Wait -- does one usually go "Brrrrrrrrrrr" during global warming? ;) http://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2014/11/snowiest_november_grand_rapids.html Quote
westend1 Posted November 22, 2014 Report Posted November 22, 2014 If this warming trend is man made. should we do something to try and stop it? Quote
stevenash Posted November 22, 2014 Report Posted November 22, 2014 If we take some extreme measures to try and stop it and find out that 100 years from now, our efforts netted a half degree cooler temperature, will it have been worth all that we did for that result? Just for fun, try this one: If we knew in advance that outlawing/eliminating the internal combustion engine would make the earth 1/2 degree cooler in 100 years, would that "price" be worth it? Quote
