Knew it was too good to be true. Although the "no talks" can be semantics. Like Saban never talked to Texas...however, his agent was living on the phone with Texas people right until he got fed up and signed his new deal with Bama.

Strange that the talk has been about Shaka (the alum choice) and not Marshall (who supposedly is the one Patterson wants).

I've been in the Shaka camp die a while. However, in addition to Avery Johnson, heard John Lucas' name today as well. Not sure how he would do on the college sidelines but he would be the greatest recruiter in the history of CBB in this state.

Just a reminder that Shaka Smart is the basketball coach at the University of Texas. The only other time my alma mater hired my first choice for a replacement was with Augie. That seems to have been a good hire...
