kicker
Don't forget about Dallas to Johnson and Dallas to Spencer! There are others that could be listed as well! Preston had a huge 4th down catch last night!! And don't forget the other teams QB to Thompson. lol Seems to happen often. Heck, even Spencer gets them. ladybug33
.....Oh no doubt, Spencer, Teate, Balwin Thompson all are fantastic, Mandel King and the defense played their hearts out last night, I am so proud of the whole team. I think this teams can beat any given team on any given night, even the LaMarque Cougars.

ladybug33
It appears as though LaMarque likes to sit up the screen play to gain yardage, what does coach need to do to defend that play?
kicker
Have to play very disciplined. Stay on your assignments and try not to over pursue the backfield. Also HAVE to contain the corners against a team with speed like they have.
ladybug33
That sounds great, I believe that if we contain them from opening up that screen play, they have little left to score, if they try to pass too much, well it will be a INT, for sure. # 24 is a good player I'm not knocking that, otherwise, we have stopped team speed on a lot of teams this year. I believe we can stop their running game.

griff
LM has only won 5 rings but never the less, it's a WOS nothing special offense vs a LM nothing special defense...then you have a WOS very tough defense vs a LM very tough offense. The winner of this game will be the team that limits the mistakes. In the end either of them are going to have the pleasure of lining vs LG for the quarters. HJ is a solid team but is going to be out matched. It always depends on what teams are playing well right now. Good luck to all four. By "nothing special" I assume you mean no one who has 1,500 yards rushing or 1,000+ yards passing or 900 yards receiving...something along those lines? Stats do not tell the story on everything. WO-S's offense has become equally effective in the rushing and passing departments. I like our chances with this "nothing special" offense against LaMarque and whoever else lines up against WO-S. kicker
We may to bring out the modified veer to combat this. Or do we run that now? Whatdaya think, kicker? Hey hey hey, don't hate on my offense.....that's probably what its going to take the Hawks to beat LG. lol Straight from Wiki..........The Veer is an option running play often associated with option offenses in American football, made famous at the collegiate level by Bill Yeoman's Houston Cougars. It is currently run primarily on the high school level, with some usage at the collegiate and the professional level where the Veer's blocking scheme has been modified as part of the Zone Blocking system. The Veer is an effective ball control offense that can help minimize mismatches in a game for a team. However, it can lead to turnovers with pitches and handoff option reads

LOL no, we run the Spread with some Pistol I believe. The "Modified Veer" comment is an inside joke between a few of us Wos folks.

However, kicker sees a modified veer offense somewhere in every high school game. He is right, though. WO-S is a spread team that also uses the pistol. outanup
tennisbc
WOS ran the ball mostly and had some dropped passes. With that said when they spread and did pass they did so very well. Would like to see more balance overall during the game. Don't get me wrong they were able to run on Giddings and Giddings did have some good runs on use as well. WOS must tighten up the run defense. When we pass and run the offense is much better. Use both against the cougars and they should move the ball well. WOS 32-17. WOS defense rises up in the second half and plays better after the coaches make the adjustments. Go STANGS
cougar2011
Bellville was a decent team at best... It was a good "moral" win for WOS... But I expect them to up the ante this next week. Its time to play big boy football. I've been saying on other message boards all season... WOS and La marque are very similar in their talent and potential to make the long stretch... I think the game is gonna be decided on the la marque offensive side of the ball... If they are running it effectively and continue to do so, it will be "nite nite" for WOS.. however, if WOS defense can make some big stops to shift the moment in their favor ... we could have us a real nail biter...
