wildcats35 Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Let's talk about them hornets next year! coaching change? Leave that guy alone.....please. The coaches there have families to worry about. I am sure rumors dont need to be swirling around especially the head man there. Does not matter whose coaching there until the talent improves. I am sure the coaches there are doing the best they can. Mr. Buddy Garrity, Bighornet and jv_coach 3 Quote

purpleeagle Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 The kids are not interested in football. The 7th and 8th grade only had about 14 kids on each team and the JV cancelled against Newton because if they got an injury they would not have enough players on the field. The coaches cannot do anything for a kid that does not want to play and you cannot make them play. You have to develop the kids and a coach cannot do that while the kids would rather be playing games on the computer rather than lifting weights, etc.. The football future looks very dim for the next few years for Hemphill. Someone from Hemphill argued that playing a weak schedule was the way to build the confidence for the players, well, just how much confidence did it build. Hemphill could not even beat the weak teams. A once good program from years ago has vanished. Changing the coaching staff if not going to change the program at this stage(as a matter of fact they have done that the last few years and it has accomplished nothing).. You have to get the kids out for football and after a few years if the program has not changed then you can look at changing the coaching staff. RETIREDFAN1, Mr. Buddy Garrity and Bighornet 3 Quote

I am sure the coaches there are doing the best they can. I agree. I see just about all of the coaches in the local Brookshires where I work and they are doing the absolute best they can with the personnel they have. Isn't 3-7 an DRASTIC improvement over 0-10? Just saying give the man a chance. A coaching carousel does no one any good. Stability is a key element to any program..... Uncle Si 1 Quote

44stack Posted November 30, 2014 Report Posted November 30, 2014 Nice town, close to both lakes. Sad to see it go downhill. Hope they can rebuild it. I remember when they were playing in the semi-finals just 10 years ago. Another one is Burkeville. They really dropped off of the map. Quote
Uncle Si Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 Wonder why that is? The retirement age folks want to be on the lake and that pretty much sums up Hemphill. Hemphill needs to give the HC and his staff time. It will continue to get a little better over the next few years. I am very glad that they won a few games this year, it did wonders for the team and community. There was a swelling of pride and the stands began filling again. Hemphill is a great town full of good people, it will come back around. Quote

TXHORN_ET Posted December 4, 2014 Report Posted December 4, 2014 Hopefully they'll get back to being competitive. From am earlier post, someone stated there was a lack of numbers and participation. What can a person do to get more kids in the program? It's going to be difficult to match this years win total of 3 next season if the numbers are that low. Quote
