How bout those Bishop Brothers? 5 State titles in 6 years with them starting. The youngest is in 7th grade

It's amazing what some talent and great coaching will get you. Congrats again Aledo. Their is something I have noticed watching these 5a finals and it leaves me not very optimistic about a 5a title from this region for a while. I really thought Temple would win this game.

Oh & Navasota is chasing after it now. SETX needs to convert to compete. Some of the area schools have tons of talent but without the other things, your cooking but without grease.

Navasota is nasty and keeps reloading which tells me their coached up and have the town and kids buying in.

That's what a few of us are doing in Hardin now with the young'ens. But it takes the community & parents :) hoping for some huge steps forward soon !!!

Numbers have helped as well. Aledo has only 1500 in the high school but has 2 Freshman and 2 JV teams as well as 60 on varsity. DFW teams have more than just 3 or 4 teams. And middle schools have 3 teams in each grade instead of 2. More get playing time in middle school and keep playing throughout.

Your not catching on. The 4 arent 1. They are 4 different things.

Yeah but those three do not win, many players move to better academic schools, and do not keep coaches to teach a system all the way through.

 

I know that in Aledo's middle school league, the teams are Burleson, Crowley, Brewer, Joshua, Weatherford, Granbury Mineral Wells, and Stephenville. Only two of these schools have success (Aledo and Stephenville) and only two have money (Aledo and Burleson). All the others really don't have any of the others yet all have 4 teams in high school, large varsity squads and 3 7th and 3 8th grade teams. It is just that competitiveness that you see in West Texas with the small schools that they still have.

No what I was trying to add was that for the DFW teams having more teams at middle school helps have more numbers and depth. This helps with injuries and helps teams like Aledo reload. Yes those equal success but numbers definitely help the further along in the season you are. I believe I saw somewhere that in the playoffs Aledo has 100 players suited up and in blowouts these JVs get to play.
