ladybug33
UIL has made several poor decisions lately, one playing all "state" games in Dallas. Whatever happened the playing games in Austin and the surrounding areas. Austin is Texas's State Capitol. prepballfan
bullets13
Honestly, I feel like the majority of high school football players would take playing a championship in Jerryworld over any other destination in the state. eagleswoodville#1
Exactly. You can't please everyone, no matter what decision you make. I would've given anything to play in Jerrys World.

That may be true, Houston has NRG staduim, which is better than Jerry's Wolrd IMO. Most families of these kids who play HSF cannot not even afford to go to the games at NRG nor AT&T stadiums, let alone paying those ridiculously, over priced food items, and for parking. Even though some of us who can pay these prices, may feel that, they do not want to fill the billionaires pocket even more, but just want to see the meaning of state high school football come back to Austin. Cowboys Stadium is the best. Been to both multiple times. Second Fort Worth is more neutral in the small school games. Third it has a roof and turf. DKR does not protect from the elements so having it there over austin guarantees fans will show up and the field will not be torn up by the 9th or 10th game. More fans mean more money and yes UIL and Jones keeps some but the schools get a good percentage as well to pay the costs for other sports. NRG, Alamodome, and Cowboys bid for the games every year. They are the professional stadiums with a roof which is what UIL wants. And who doesn't want to play at Cowboys Stadium. For a lot of those players they may never even play another game so end it all there.

Point well taken NRG should do something about the turf surface, however that does not change the fact that some school are at an advantage if they are from the Dallas area. Ennis has not downtime for travel. Some schools cannot pay for expensive charter buses to bus the kids so far. Besides UT, and A&M are excellent venues to play at. RaiderRed30
If the games are played at the state no one has an advantage. Cedar Park, Navasota, Mason, Yoe, and Temple would have a huge travel advantage. With Cowboys Stadium Allen, Cedar Hill and Ennis (75 minutes compared to 190 minutes). Aledo sort of. Let's say games were still neutral. 2A D2: Albany-Bremond would be neutral at Glen Rose or Aledo 2A D1: Canadian-Mason would be neutral at Abilene or Midland 3A D2: Newton-Waskom would be neutral at SFA 3A D1: Yoe-Mineola would be neutral at Ennis 4A D2: WOS-Gilmer would be neutral at SFA 4A D1: Navasota-Argyle would be neutral at Baylor 5A D2: Ennis-Cedar Park would be neutral at Baylor 5A D1: Aledo-Temple would be neutral at Baylor or Cowboys 6A D2: Katy-Cedar Hill would be neutral at A&M, Baylor, DKR 6A D1: Allen-Cy Ranch same as above Cowboys is indoors where weather will not deter fans and only in 6A would DKR be neutral. Okay, In the past before NRG, before AT&T the games were played outdoors for the most part, except back in the Dome days. Another point to what would be good for playing back in the Austin area is because, UT and A&M along with UIL could offer a few more scholarships to the young men who play HSF. Has Jerry offered to do that. Besides, the next level after HS is College. Money made from high school games should be used to actively place more kids in College football. UT, A&M, Sam Houston State, Lamar and UH, could offer scholarships to kids if a fund was created by UILto donate the money that is made from HS football to these collegesl. Now the money goes to UIL and people who already have Billions of dollars.
ladybug33
What wrong with the Turf in NRG It's gets messed up during Texans games a lot. I hear the owner is going to spend money to replace it after the season is over
PhatMack19
What wrong with the Turf in NRG It's grass that they grow in the parking lot. It is named as the worst playing surface in the NFL and that is after only 1 game. Imagine what playing 10 games in 3 days would do to it. Many injuries have been blamed on that field including the #1 picks season ending injury this year. They need to get field turf before this is a viable option. ladybug33
Guys I just thought that a discussion should be discussed about what the definition of "State" is all about. No one will complain I would think if all HSC games are played in the State Capitol.

UIL has it right playing the games under a roof. 50,000 fans aren't going to show up to watch football in the rain and cold of December. It needs to be inside. I always thought they should rotate it between JerryWorld, NRG, and the Alamo Dome every 3 years. If the kids got to pick, they would pick JerryWorld every time.
