Smith scored 21 in the overtime victory tonight. He also took 21 shots and only made 9. Harden scored 32 on 17 shots.

I didn't watch the game, but I don't think its good for Houston for him to be leading the team in shots.

That's been the knock on him. He can be a real asset as a role player but he's become a volume shooter. Which is not a good thing when you shoot in the 30 percent range. If he was 9 for 21 tonight, he actually shot better than normal. I also am curious how many minutes he got to put up 21 shots.

Smith needs to stay away from the 3 point line!! 0-2 with a airball..

He's not the third guy. He took twenty shots to score 20 points. That's not efficient.

Also, some of those shots were ugly. The airball 3?

He needs to play within his limits. Stop taking so many shots that he's not capable of making.

BUTTTTT.....

First game. No practice, only a shootaround. Against Memphis in their building.

Calm down and let the realization sink in: we have just surpassed Portland, Memphis, and yes even GSW in the Western Conference talent pool. Now time to see how we fare against the Clippers, OKC, and San Antonio (once they start caring).

Could we go all the way this year?? Time will tell...

Interesting stat: Russell Westbrook had a triple double last night, and is currently on pace to finish the season averaging 26 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds a game. A player has finished a season with those numbers only ten times in the history of the NBA. Michael Jordan did it once, LeBron James did it once, and Oscar Robertson did it EIGHT times. Pretty amazing how when we talk about all-time greats he never comes into the discussion.

Definitely agree. Big O averaged 25.7, 9.5 assists and 7.5 rebounds for his career. And his season where he averaged 30.8, 12.5 & 11.4 is maybe the greatest of all time.

Red Auerbach led the charge and signed Chuck Cooper at the same time. Red also hired the first African American coach in the NBA - Bill Russell. A couple of the many reasons that while Magic, Larry and Michael may be responsible for the sport's popularity, Red Auerbach is the most important figure in NBA history.

RIP Earl Lloyd.
