pride at impact Posted January 9, 2015 Report Posted January 9, 2015 Can a school reach out to other college athletes and do the whole recruiting thing and try to convince them of going elsewhere once that athlete has announced transferring? IE Kenny Hill Quote
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted January 9, 2015 Report Posted January 9, 2015 Can a school reach out to other college athletes and do the whole recruiting thing and try to convince them of going elsewhere once that athlete has announced transferring? IE Kenny Hill I believe Bama just did that (made a mistake) with a dismissed player from UGA. They was talking about the player on Finebaum the other day. He's under investigation for a felony, domestic violence. Quote

IE Kenny Hill The school cannot initiate the contact. Similar situation at UH right now with soph. QB O'Korn. UH, like they have done in the past, have limited the schools they will "allow" him to transfer to. Not sure why they should really care if they do not think he is good enough to play for them. http://blog.chron.com/sportsupdate/2015/01/cougars-quarterback-okorn-granted-permission-to-talk-about-transfer/ Quote
pride at impact Posted January 9, 2015 Author Report Posted January 9, 2015 A school can actually say your not transferring to a competitive school ? Quote
Peppermint Patty Posted January 9, 2015 Report Posted January 9, 2015 A school can actually say your not transferring to a competitive school ? They can refuse to grant you your release. So technically, yes. Most do not. This is the second football player that I know of that UH has done this to. Quote
pride at impact Posted January 9, 2015 Author Report Posted January 9, 2015 Interesting. Almost like they should get paid if they can control you like that. Lol. Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote
Peppermint Patty Posted January 9, 2015 Report Posted January 9, 2015 Interesting. Almost like they should get paid if they can control you like that. Lol. Oh yes. They are completely in charge. They do not have to grant your release and they do not have to renew your scholarship. They can screw a kid a hundred different ways. Then, you have to sit a year if you transfer from D1 to D1. It's complete and total BS. Quote
pride at impact Posted January 9, 2015 Author Report Posted January 9, 2015 I knew about the sitting parr but didnt kniw about they can regulate which school or "conference" you choose. So that being said any school can and WILL recruit KENNY HILL and AGGY can tell him NO your not going to a in state school even know were not in same conference. Looks like Oregon needs to make a trip to Central Texas or at least send a plane. Come on Lamar! Ha Quote

Rumor is that Coach Patterson is not interested in Hill and his baggage. Look for him to end up at SMU. I do not think TAMU is too worried about SMU at this time. Quote
PhatMack19 Posted January 9, 2015 Report Posted January 9, 2015 A few years ago Oklahoma St blocked the transfer of Wes Lunt to 37 schools! No Big 12, SEC, or Pac 12 and a handful of others that Okie Lt might play in bowl games. It's complete crap that coaches can do that. I can understand blocking transfers within conference, but other than that they should be free to go wherever they want. http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2013/5/17/4341810/wes-lunt-transfer-oklahoma-state-restrictions pride at impact 1 Quote

pride at impact Posted January 9, 2015 Author Report Posted January 9, 2015 I forgot about that. Isnt there any better mentor/coaches than Salisbury? Quote
Peppermint Patty Posted January 9, 2015 Report Posted January 9, 2015 I forgot about that. Isnt there any better mentor/coaches than Salisbury? I would argue that his mom and dad should be his mentor. As for coaches, that is all a matter of finances. Quote

pride at impact Posted January 10, 2015 Author Report Posted January 10, 2015 And why is he leaving houston exactly ? Another recruit or not happy with coaching changes? Quote
Peppermint Patty Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 And why is he leaving houston exactly ? Another recruit or not happy with coaching changes? He was benched and the other guy played better. He had a solid season as a freshman. At UH that means nothing. Quote
