GoldenTriangleHoops Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Who are the top 10 freshman playing varsity in this area, and will they really impact the team as they grow older? Quote
eagleswoodville#1 Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Christian Williams from Woodville has to be somewhere on this list. Quote
tigerheart Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 San Augustine plays a freshman at PG right now. Could be a real good one in the near future. Quote
Tyler Dixson Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Eli Parquet HJ Jomard Kelly Katon Bbrown LCM Kalon Barnes Silsbee Quote
GoldenTriangleHoops Posted January 20, 2015 Author Report Posted January 20, 2015 Jalen Sneed and Chatman are the top 2 in my opinion. Quote
GoldenTriangleHoops Posted January 20, 2015 Author Report Posted January 20, 2015 Elijah Parquet a nice 3rd Quote
Tyler Dixson Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Jalen Sneed is número uno followed by Chatman. If we're going by production then Eli is 3rd but Jomad is as of right now overall better to me. Those are top 4 though. As far as my opinion. Quote
dBerrySports Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Best I've seen so far are Parquet then Sneed Quote
Mamba Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 1. Parquet 2. Sneed 3. Chaman 3. Barnes 4. Valcin All of these young men have some good futures ahead of them...keep working and stay humble.... Pepper Brooks and show me love 2 Quote
aTmfan06 Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Christian Williams from Woodville has to be somewhere on this list. There are 5 or 6 prolly ahead of him Quote
Tyler Dixson Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 There are 5 or 6 prolly ahead of him Christian definitely makes a top 10 list IMO though. Like every other class in SETX though there is no clear cut Number one player. Atleast not yet. Jalen, Chatman, Eli, or Jomard could establish themselves over the next few years. Quote
Chester86 Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Tyler Torres has b=en very consistent behind the three point line for Evadale all year. Quote

GoldenTriangleHoops Posted January 20, 2015 Author Report Posted January 20, 2015 Jaylon Williams from Cleveland is definitely number 4 in my opinion. Much better than this Jomard kid. Quote
bullets13 Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 Parquet is definitely at or near the top. If HJ wasn't so balanced this year, he'd be a clear #1 IMO. As it is, he's still a big contributor in an offense that has 6 or 7 guys consistently scoring 7-10 points a game. Quote
oldschool2 Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 I think it's dumb to say top 10 freshmen. There can't be that many freshman that even start in the area. So I would say top freshman. Quote

GoldenTriangleHoops Posted January 20, 2015 Author Report Posted January 20, 2015 Yes, not really top 10. I apologize. More like top young talent. Quote
oldschool2 Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 It wasn't necessarily a list of top 10 starting freshman. Just a list of top freshman talent that is playing varsity ball. My point remains the same. Can't be too many freshmen making impacts on boys varsity teams. And on another note...if you have a freshman not good enough to start, why have them on varsity Quote

And on another note...if you have a freshman not good enough to start, why have them on varsity You say that like having a good bench on your team doesn't matter or like the starting 5 play the entire time. You can be a bench player, and come in play defense and lock somebody down. Maybe you are a shooter and need a quick 3. Or a couple 3's. Maybe you need rebounds, and you have a big man that might do better than your starter one game. Quote
Chester86 Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 What number is he? 10 I believe. Quote
GoldenTriangleHoops Posted January 20, 2015 Author Report Posted January 20, 2015 It's about pieces. Pieces to a team. Tyler Dixson 1 Quote
Tyler Dixson Posted January 20, 2015 Report Posted January 20, 2015 10 I believe. That kid can light it up from beyond the arc. Was unaware he was a freshman. Quote

And on another note...if you have a freshman not good enough to start, why have them on varsity Silsbee freshmen Kalon Barnes just came off the bench this past Tuesday night and had a double-double, 12 points, 15 rebounds in an 81-67 win over Jasper. Barnes is averaging (off the bench) 9 points and 7 rebounds a game in district play. I think that is pretty significant numbers regardless of starting or not. Barnes makes an impact for Silsbee. He deserves to be varsity. Quote
