tvc184 Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 Does anyone have any fishing points mapped on a gps cause i need some fishin spots for catfishLOL. Right..... we are going to give you secret fishing holes for cats. I seriousness, are you looking for trotline holes or rod and reel fishing?
WH-BackInThaDay Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 Rod and Reel Catfishing hot spots... Please, any of them. The last 20 times I have went rod and reel catfishing, between me, my uncle, my aunt, and cousins, we only catch small channels, and maybe half of them are big enough to keep. I just want to catch a few in the 5-10lb. range. Anywhere from Rayburn, to Livingston, Conroe, Toledo Bend, or even the rivers. Any tips or hot spots, anyone. Note: I have done a lot of catfishing, I'm just not doing something right, or I don't know where to find them, or something.
tvc184 Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 What are you using for bait or are you using a bit of everything?
WH-BackInThaDay Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 Usually I throw the cast net and shad are my favorite or shad gizzards if you can find them, but I'll use catalpa worms, crawfish, shrimp, Earthworms, cut perch/shad, etc. Usually I have two or three bais with me. I like to run a two hook liter with the weight on the bottom. Tightlining. Never had luck on stink bait of any kind.
BIGDADDYDAVEHJ Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Yea i know a great spot to go catch catfish...just pick any LNVA canal in china when the gates are open and you can catch just about anything from big blues, bass, crappie and even sum gators! and you can also catch sum soft shell turtles if your in to that sorta thing!
tvc184 Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Ever try to use Zote Soap for bait? It doesn't seem to work well with Ops but it can bring in some good channel and a few blue cats.
Cardinal Supporter Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Try using shrimp or chicken liver. I have done well with chicken liver on lake Conroe using a rod and reel. I use shrimp when I am noodle fishing.
BIGDADDYDAVEHJ Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 or you can use sum ivory soap
tvc184 Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 or you can use sum ivory soapZote is better. It has a higher tallow/fat/lard content and is a lot softer and more pliable. It is not brittle so it tends to stay on a hook more and the extra fat draws them in better.
Buna baseball 13 Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 I got a good place right in my pond in front of my house
tvc184 Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 I got a good place right in my pond in front of my houseSo give Kingofthadiamond the gps coordinates so he can come over.
Zoneblock Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 I agree it is hard to beat the old pink zote for catfish. Shiners work good seems like i always catch a handful of cats while i crappie fish.
tvc184 Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 Most of the LNVA canals in this area have some decent catfish in them. They have Ops, Blues and Channels. The biggest that I have caught is about a 10 pound Ops on a limb line. I have gotten a lot of Channel cats out of these canals.
