Peppermint Patty Posted February 12, 2015 Report Posted February 12, 2015 Looks like North Shores grad and Rice Freshman R. Salinas will get the start on the back-end of a DH this Saturday. http://www.texassports.com/news/2015/2/12/BB_0212155301.aspx?path=baseball The greatest time of the year. Hook'em Horns! Go Gophers! Beat Houston! Stingers Up! Quote
Peppermint Patty Posted February 16, 2015 Author Report Posted February 16, 2015 Well played games. Nederland grad, Kirby Bellow, had two good outings for the Horns. It was good to see him back on the mound. Texas had 11 players make their debuts during the weekend. Lots of young talent. Quote
Steven Avery Posted February 17, 2015 Report Posted February 17, 2015 Ricky Salinas represented 21-6a well, 6 shutout innings before giving up 2 in the 7th. I wasn't sure he had that good of stuff to start as a freshman. I heard he was 88-91 velo wise. Quote

Steven Avery Posted February 17, 2015 Report Posted February 17, 2015 Salinas had a great slider in HS, not sure if he relied on that sat or not. Most of the pitchers I saw sunday were in that same range. Only the stephens kid from rice and the freshman Johnson kid were above 93...almost all of the leftys are 86-87 Quote

Especially for a "power" pitcher. Quote
