What has happened in the last 40 years?

What has caused the great divide between Republicans and Democrats?

I can remember a time when the parties could have different views but work together on common interest........what happened?

I personally feel it has a lot to do with the internet. Someone can post a topic and twist it, and make the outcome whatever they want. A LOT of people believe what they read.....

Your thoughts?

This will not be an Obama bashing post. This has been going on long before Obama came to office, so that is not going to work. Lets use our brain and have an honest debate or discussion of why.....

Democrats have become Marxist/Leninists and Republicans have become Socialists......neither party is good for America anymore as they are both authoritarian and borderline fascist.......they both have scrapped The Constitution in favor of seeking and keeping power........the "fighting" between the parties is intended to divide and conquer by keeping us focused on our differences rather than on how we are being manipulated by them.......it's working really good for them.....not so much for us......

Oh, and the extreme voters on both sides who don't beleive there can be a middle ground.

This forum is the perfect example. I never voted for Obama and thought Romney wouldve been a better choice, but because I don't passionately hate the guy I'm just a socialist in disguise. Despite me being fiscally conservative and working in an industry where a Romney presidency would've benefited me tremendously.

How is a socialist any better than a marxist in the long run???

Both parties are full of idiots and megalomaniacs, leading them to believe that not only is their party's way the best way, it's the only way. The news media doesn't help either. Anybody who is caught working with the other side to try and get something accomplished is destroyed by moronic propaganda machines that mislead, misrepresent, or downright lie to push their agenda, but who have enough pull to ruin candidates if they so choose to.

You do have a way with words.......

I actually agree the extreme on both sides are not willing to listen to see if the other side may have a point.

BUT

What CAUSED it? I'm hearing who is doing it, but what was the root cause??

BamaKid.....this is right up your alley.....

EnlightenedMessiah, I'm curious of your answer.......unless your answer was Fox News, Msnbc and extreme voters.

Excellent topic hippy!
Once upon a time, 40 years ago, there were conservative Democrats and liberal Republicans. These politicians kept the country on a moderate keel, but are now as extinct as the dinosaurs. The Democratic party has been completely hijacked by leftist liberals, and no longer represent anyone who works for as living. While right wing conservatives have made inroads to the Republican party ( the Tea Party), the old guard, moderate Republicans (McCain, McConnell, Boehner and others)have not totally yielded to them. This leaves two polar opposite ideologies, with almost no middle ground. It would be total gridlock except for the old guard Republicans rolling over for the Democrats.
I prefer the gridlock, as no new laws are better than the bad laws they have passed for the last decade. The older I get, I find myself more aligned with the Libertarians, however, most of these guys are more kooky than the Democrats. How will this play out? My hope is that ultra-conservatives take over and save this country. I know a lot of you disagree. Please keep up the good dialogue.

Which one? And why the one -you- believe in? I need proof besides the book that's making the claim (circular reasoning)

The only One.........Old Testament prophecy FULFILLED in Christ is all the proof I need.......it can be shown mathematically that one person fulfilling all those prophecies coincidentally is such an improbability as to be an impossibility......

Did you even read the article you linked?

I need PROOF. Not the chances of some guy getting betrayed by a friend.

Seems you are the ignorant one here.....the math doesn't lie.....it was clearly proven in the universal language of MATH to be true.....I guess you are just too low intellect to understand probability......obviously not MIT caliber........

Did YOU read it, or did all the numbers cloud your mind???? NUMBERS don't lie......if you don't understand probability and what the NUMBERS are saying,  let me know and I'll "enlighten" you......:P

From the article:

"To answer the question what is the probability of one man fulfilling all eight prophecies, the principal of probability is applied. Therefore, multiplying all eight probabilities together (1 times 2.8 x 105 x 103 x 102 x 103 x 103 x 105 x 103 x 104) gives us 2.8 x 1028, or for simplicity sake 1 x 1028 or 1 in 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. Given this and the time span between the writings of the Old Testament and the fulfillment by Christ in the New Testament, the prophecies were either given to the prophets by God, or the prophets just wrote them down as they thought they should be. With Christ fulfilling all eight prophecies, what are the odds the prophets were just guessing?"
