Peppermint Patty Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 Texas A&M baseball team honors 13-year-old cancer patient Posted on February 26, 2015 | By Chron Sports For all the horror stories about big colleges recruiting top prospects younger and younger every year, there are just as many tales from the other end of the spectrum. Feel-good situations that don’t get nearly the same coverage as, say, LeBron James’ son being recruited at 10. Well, meet 13-year-old Elias Gomez, the newest member of the Texas A&M baseball team. Gomez, an eighth-grader from College Station, has battled a brain tumor known as medulloblastoma since 2007. On Thursday, Aggies head coach Rob Childress spoke about Gomez’s story and what led him to offer the youngster an honorary letter of intent. “You are relentless and we feel very honored that you’re a part of our program here at Texas A&M,†Childress said. Added A&M pitcher A.J. Minter: “He has a great story, I mean he’s just overcome a lot of challenges in his life and we’re just happy to have him.†Mr. Buddy Garrity and HurricaneCal 2 Quote
