Larry Haynes Out at Lumberton

Recommended Posts

When I played for him at Crosby we had the 2nd best defense in the district only behind Dayton, forced more turnovers than anyone else, and had the best offense in he Houston area. Of course Haynes only coached the offense, coach Dickey and coach Mckeyon were our CO-DCs so they coached the defense. Just like Barbary prolly only coaches one side of the ball just like every other coach on earth does except Tom Landry so what's your point. He doesn't coach a lick of defense cause he's an offensive coach, just like Bill Walsh didn't coach a lick of defense because he was an offensive coach. Also you can coach up a scheme and get a kid open, no matter how much you coach you can't make a sorry slow kid tackle a fast better kid no matter how hard you coach. If you aren't t good enough to catch him and then tackle him coaching won't do jack for a defense.

I'm pretty sure Credeur was there 6 years. He did great the first 2 yrs, meh the next 2, and won 1 game the last 2. Correct me if I'm wrong on that but that's what I recall. He ran into 2 or 3 mediocre classes. It happens. Good coach tho. Haynes deserved at least another year since his team showed definite improvement. That ship has unfortunately sailed tho. Really not worth discussing anymore but it is the off season so it's something to talk about lol. Hopefully everything will turn out well for the kids for next year. ;-)

If I'm not mistaken, Haynes graduated from Liberty.

Hardin people don't know who their record holding HS Qb was? Some data indicates he was Hardin's starting QB from 1974-1976 and has most All the school passing records until Nolan/Taylor in the late 2000's. I found some things on-line saying he won more games as a starter than anyone in school history. Not sure what's true. Everybody knows Larry is a QB developing machine though.

Yeah that sounds right, cause he coached the other two that beat his records. He's also the winningest coach and has the only two Bi District Championships in the schools 60+ year history, to go along with playing there so yeah He's about as big a Hardin guy as you can get. He also upgraded their facilities to some of the best 3A facilities in the state just like he did when i played for him at crosby. The guy completely changes programs usually overnight, started 20-0 when he went to haltom after a 9 year playoff drought brand new top notch stadium and facilities built, went 14-6 in his first 2 seasons w/ playoff win at crosby after we were 1-9 back to back then top notch stadium and facilities built, then at Hardin ZERO playoff wins in school history and 1-9 the season prior he goes 8-2 season 1 w/ bi district champ 6-4 season 2 w/ bi district champ then top notch stadium and facilities built.

Where is Credeur at now? That 2007 District Championship team was a one to remember.

Yes it was! I'm so glad I was a sophomore and was able to be part of all the fun things going on during that season! I will never forget it. Even a gas station here in Lumberton has the boys running out of the helmet.that year painted on their wall here in town

Beard and Hussey was the backbone of the team that season. Beating La Marque was historic

I tend to focus my attention on the O-line. Lol

Hardin lost in the opening round to Brookshire Royal 54-0. I didn't have to Google that.

That was also the day after they buried their team captain who died in a hunting accident, are you trying to bring that up as a negative cause i think any team of 15-18 yr olds would probably have a bad game after that. Maybe you should've looked that up first. My uncles were the Randolphs that played on that team, they said they never showed up cause they were all still at the funeral mentally.
