Guest Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Finney is one of the best coaches in Texas. Too bad he didn't stay at HD for another year we would have seen his abilities. He definitely is able to recognize when it is time to jump ship. jv_coach, Mr. Buddy Garrity and H-D BOBCAT 55 3 Quote

He definitely is able to recognize when it is time to jump ship. It's bout to get really bad. Finney did the coach a huge favor on his way out by scheduling Sabine Pass, Colmesneil, and Burkeville. jv_coach 1 Quote

Guest Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 HD should be able to compile a winning record heading into district. HD has a long rich history of scheduling the most pathetic teams in the state. The only thing that might get the would be if those drop to 6 man or end their football programs. H-D BOBCAT 55 1 Quote
Guest Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Finney could apply for the San Augustine AD job. It will be open in about 18 months. Quote
tigerheart Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Finney is out of coaching, right? I actually think he is an assistant at Mt. Vernon Quote
H-D BOBCAT 55 Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Took an assistant job due to family priorities. Quote

Pepper Brooks Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 So he should have no problem winning playoff games at HD right? Or is there a lack of talent?Finney is a very good coach, when he was at HD they just happen to run into a very talented Alto team for the 2 years he was with the Bobcats. H-D BOBCAT 55 1 Quote

Guest Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 Pepper Brooks: HD always happens to run into a playoff team in the playoffs. They also always happen to lose. Finney happened to do what all HD coaches happen to do. They happen to play the most pathetic schools available in pre-district and typically happen to play in the weakest district of the state. This happens to result in the most unknowledgeable fan bases in the state entering SETX forums and making foolish proclamations about great coaches, four horsemen, and hitting teams in the mouth. HD then happens to get beat in the first round by a team with 2-3 talented players which happens to be significantly more talent than can be found in HD. Afterwards, HD fans happen to disappear until the next season and the new coach happens to arrive. Pepper Brooks and Mr. Buddy Garrity 2 Quote
H-D BOBCAT 55 Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 89 I actually think you are a good dude and enjoy some of your posts. HD fans will always root for and love them Bobcats, it's because of the pride and tradition instilled in HD fans since birth. HD Nation is all about football. For the most part you are right, HD needs to win in the playoffs, even if it's early playoff games versus top 5 teams. Just win baby! Been a long dry spell, no arguing that... Quote

Guest Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 How do you know? Do you think Murr would be able to beat Newton, Kirbyville and the rest with 180 kids in the school? Quote
mmccary Posted April 24, 2015 Author Report Posted April 24, 2015 How do you know? Do you think Murr would be able to beat Newton, Kirbyville and the rest with 180 kids in the school? 3-17....you don't go 0-10...every game wasn't Newton or kirbyville! Quote
Guest Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 Did the school drop 1/3 of its student body in the span of 2 years? If so, how successful are coaches when this happens? Quote
Skilled95 Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 Finney... He could Coach at bigger schools, chooses not to. One of the top Coaches in Texas. A great coach. If he was at HD this past season it would have been a different outcome. I never seen HD compete and have heart like they did in the 2012 and 2013 football Season. If I was a board member in Daisetta,TX I would of suggested to give Finney all his request to keep him around. Quote
