ST413
Brady you have great points. AAU coaches like yourselves are great for these kids. Devoting your time and money and pushing these kids to be the best they can be is great. But, and you will have to answer this, how many of these summer coaches are like yourself and how many are there to maybe Coach their kids or other kids or even try to get a moment in the sun themselves by having success. I realize some of these high school coaches may be merely there for the job as well but many have just as much care for the kids as well. As far as the remarks about average AAU or High School Coaches, my interpretation would be that based on pure coaching ability. I am not a good evaluator of that but I know from seeing comments that there are some AAU coaches that have had very successful careers so I would put them on the top level just like Coaches like Sutherland locally or Boutte and so on. Those coaches at the top levels may be pretty even. When you get to the lnext level where coaches haven't really had success at the top and maybe don't have the coaching skills of these the above category, I would say may be the average coaches. For the most part I would think from that level the high school coaches would have the edge there based on their education and maybe experience. my opinions there are not a criticism of you or any other coach in particular just an overall observation. I could be wrong because I have very limited AAU experiences. With that said my hats off to the Coaches such as yourself that go the extra mile and devote large portions of your life helping these kids. I think that is one of the best things a person can do, help our youth to better themselves, keep them off the streets and give them goals to reach for. 5GallonBucket and BLUEDOVE3
5GallonBucket
I know there are some great aau coaches who do it for the right reasons. But don't knock junior high and high school coaches. school coaches are teaching and coaching the kids that AAU coaches are not cause AAU coaches are only gonna take the kids that are gonna help them win or fit their team philosophy.. am I wrong about that? IM sure there is some kids on teams that more than likely were below cut but coaches let them on cause momma and daddy have good jobs and are willing to pay whatever so there kid can get some exposure. AAU has a larger pool to pull from. EX...Local AAU has all of golden triangle and the out skirts while a school coach is only dealt the hand that live within district boundaries. I wonder why you don't see a lot of junior and senior high coaches coaching during the summer? Its a good way to tone your coaching skills as if you're in a coaching clinic. ;)
BLUEDOVE3
I know Rodney plays AAU, but who for??? He should be participating in some (good)senior showcases to show off his talents and playing as a unsigned senior on a (showcase) AAU team. DeuceSixSuited
pointless 2 argue with some people on here. If they don't like the way the conversation is going on here. They will lock the thread.

5GallonBucket
1. I didn't start this convo about aau coaches vs school coaches. 2. I never knocked aau coaches. I said I see both sides. so u r going to tell me you take anybody and everybody on an AAU team? so aau is the same as lil dribbler now????? There is great coaches both aau and school, but don't come on here and act like you don't have an advantage over school coaches because you can pick and choose from larger mile radius to make your team. DeuceSixSuited
I take any kid that wants to work and get better. The difference in what I do and little dribblers is traveling and playing against better competition. And there are no rules about playing time. I think it is only against il rules if you coach your own players, as far as Brady coaching his players the school isn't uil. He didn't have any of his current players on the team. But it sure was good advertising for him.
