kicker Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Are you asking when last team to play in state title game in two different sports in same school year? If so, cannot count this Mustang team just yet.I got you Aggie. Semi finals next. Quote
77 Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 So happy for the Stangs and coach Landry he's a fine man! Quote
kicker Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 If it's like football, region 4 winner next. Quote
TLB0 Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 What's amazing is a lot of great teams have that one great player that they ride all season long. With WOS everyone contributes. They are a true team in every sense of the word. Crazy. What team are you referring to ? Or is this just a general statement? Some teams have PLENTY of talent just don't play as a team. Quote
PhatMack19 Posted June 5, 2015 Author Report Posted June 5, 2015 So who's next? Won't know until the field is set and they will seed the teams based on winning %. This series ended early so I'm sure Coach Landry and staff will be making some road trips across the state the next two days to watch some baseball. Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote
Skeet Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 99' PNG went to the state finals in football and baseball. Finished runner up in both. Congratulations to the Mustangs! They showed a lot of heart to come back and sweep it today! They will be tough to handle with that pitching and speed on defense and the bases. CAL2TEX and Mr. Buddy Garrity 2 Quote
kicker Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Actually, according to uil bracket, we play reg 1 winner. Looks like Abiliene Wiley. Quote
PhatMack19 Posted June 5, 2015 Author Report Posted June 5, 2015 Actually, according to uil bracket, we play reg 1 winner. Looks like Abiliene Wiley. The will seed the teams 1-4. 1 & 2 seeds are split and they draw to see which gets the 3 and 4 seeds. Quote
kicker Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 What team are you referring to ? Or is this just a general statement? Some teams have PLENTY of talent just don't play as a team.No team in particular. I'm just saying that I have seen many teams that have that 5 star player but nothing after them. That kid that can throw gas but can't find a relief pitcher to save their life. Just a general statement. And yes, they have many of those teams also that have the talent but can't put it together. Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 If the seeds matchup right and yall play Abilene Wylie I sure wouldn't mind if yall beat the brakes off of them, I really wouldn't mind. RaiderRed30 and Silsbee92 2 Quote
kicker Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 The will seed the teams 1-4. 1 & 2 seeds are split and they draw to see which gets the 3 and 4 seeds.Ah, ok. Didn't know that. Quote
PhatMack19 Posted June 5, 2015 Author Report Posted June 5, 2015 Wos will be the 4 seed based on the records of the teams remaining. They will either play the 1 or 2 seed depending on flip. Quote

AggiesAreWe Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Actually, according to uil bracket, we play reg 1 winner. Looks like Abiliene Wiley.State baseball tourney is set up like basketball tourney. You cannot go by brackets put up by UIL or maxpreps. Teams are seeded based on winning percentage. Top two winning percentage teams are seeded #1 and #2. Then a flip of the coin matches up the other two teams with those two. Quote
Crawford Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Congrats to WOS on defeating the #2 team in the state, but better yet advancing to the state finals. Again congrats! Quote
adminbaberuth Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 WOS has a shot to win it all. They have 3 quality starters, 2 of them are Div 1 and the sophomore Dallas is tough as nails. They have a very fast outfield. They run the bases well, 1-9 hit line drives. Fun team to watch. td 1 Quote
wo-s#1 Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 A lot of folks didn't give wos a chance, way to prove em wrong fellas td and Mr. Buddy Garrity 2 Quote
WO-S 89 Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Aledo won state in football, baseball and softball last year and this year football already won and I think both softball and baseball r still playing. Quote
ST413 Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 Way to go Mustangs, two big series wins the last couple weeks after being down!!! Quote
braves24 Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 I remember hoping WOS would just find a way into the playoffs after their struggles at the beginning of district because I knew if they could just get in they could make a lot of noise. Great team and coach. Congrats WOS. Bring it home. td 1 Quote
Goblin Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) When is the last time a school has went to state in both Football and baseball in the same year? The closest any UIL program has come to the Boys Big 3 Grand Slam was Duncanville in the '98-'99 school year during which they won the Football and Basketball State Championships and lost in the State Finals to Bellaire in Baseball. Gratz Mustangs! Keep it going! Edited June 5, 2015 by Goblin Quote
