I don't know the whole situation but from what I've read they were put on probation for 3 years in March and then may have got caught for something else in April. As of 2 weeks ago they were looking for a new AD and coach. I heard that they are waiting to see if UIL actually does something. If they can't play Springs should win again.

I haven't been able to read much, so mine will most likely be terrible.

For 6A and 5A it is difficult because the division split is unknown until November, but:

6A D1 will be the Region 1 Champion

6A D2 should be Katy if they are D2

5A is dependent on Aledo, they are the only team in the state guaranteed a semifinals place. Wherever they go, they will win.

4A D1: Navasota over Liberty-Eylau/Argyle

4A D2: WOS over Sweetwater (Agree with Garrity)

3A D1: Yoe over Brock

3A D2: Cisco over Newton

2A D1: Refugio over Goldthwaite

2A D2: Albany over Bremond

1A D1: Valley over Abbott

1A D2: Calvert/Richland Springs over Blanket

​I think as far as team impact goes that JK Dobbins will be the best player in the state in the 4A classification. You could probably argue the fact that he was last year as a sophomore too. I think La Grange brings back nearly times the starters WOS does, not to mention WOS' best returning player transferred to Cy Falls. La Grange hasn't changed that much but WOS probably has which is why some people are making those picks.

Lagrange wasn't that good last year other than dobbins, I said it last year and I will say it again it will take more than 1 superman to beat a quality defense

No one, and I mean no one, including myself, saw Newton in the State Title game when they stood 1-3 after losing to Orangefield last year. So predicting title games with or without Newton is pretty crazy. We will play well, at times. It's all about when that play comes as to titles. WOS didn't really look like State Title contenders on a certain night last season either, but look where they wound up.

Just goes to show how important our game is. Let Newton realize they actually had a great team. Let WOS realize losing really sucks and you cant overlook anyone no matter who they might have lost to previous.

I think that game was the turning point for both teams and they each benefited in a great way. The importance of that game cannot be overstated I think. What ever each team took away from Barbay field that night was exactly what it needed, because both teams played lights out ball after that! I ran into some WOS fans a couple of different times in convenience stores during the playoffs after the games and it was fun to talk about southeast Texas kicking their way up the ladder towards the title game. And the earlier game against each other would come up. But it was never in a negative way by them or me. But it was always how that game had been so important.
