Mr. Buddy Garrity
Lincoln hands down. Also most feared team in the state when existed. even big 5A schools were intimidated to go to the beehive cause they knew they were in for some kinda beat down, rather by 10 or by 50. omegafour4
admin, Buna does have some championship appearances. Lincoln has just as many and I think it is a little bit harder to when at the 4 and 5a levels then the levels that Buna won at. Not to discredit Buna because history does show that they had some great teams over the years. I Have to go with the Bumble BeesNote: Buna also was winning when blacks competed in the P.V. League. Lincoln won when the leaugue was unified with UIL. DIFFERENT COMPETITION!

AirForce84
From 1973-2006, the Silsbee boys program has missed the playoffs 1 time. Also made the state tourney in 1976 and 1983. They may not have any state championships but that sounds like one of the most consistent programs around to me.
AirForce84
??? I did forget to mention that in the 70's and early 80's, the districts were divided into zones so I counted the game after winning your zone as a playoff game.( they were in those days)

Lincoln was no doubt the best basketball team in our area.
PoppaBearstarr
For as long as I remember HJ has had a great program, as well as kountze, I would have to say one of the two for all time, but while lincoln was established I think it went to them for that time period. AshlyHasBeen
Lincoln. There was a feeling you were already down twenty when the purple and gold took the court for warmups. Between the players and the coaches they have to be considered one of the greatest programs in the state.

Lazeek
Speaking of hot gyms, I remember when they would run the heat in Hawk Gym to make it very hot for the opposition. The Hawks would practice with it on!!!

Guest Coogrkc
I don't really know any history behind lincoln...or many other basketball schools in fact...but i do know some information on Buna. I live in Buna, and go to high school there. Everyday i walk the halls seeing basketball trophies filling the cases. Coach M.N. "Cotton" Robinson was the coach that came in and built the dynasty. From 1954, until he retired in 1963, the cougars won 124 Consecutive district games.....! Cotton racked up 7 state championships. THey had win streaks of 66 and 57 games and had 2 undefeated seasons in 56-57, and 60-61.....all thats quite a feat to accomplish in my opinion. Most people familiar with basketball still know the " Buna offense." They had 15 consecutive final four wins...meaning that they WENT to state many times..and won it 7 times. I think they won state 3 years in a row. and if you're thinking they only played small schools and little talent..thats not so true either. Buna beat 4a champion Port Arthur twice, and 3a champion Smiley that i know of...along with other larger classification schools.....The cougars were 12-2 in district in 83...but that was the last time they would lose a district game in an entire decade! and if were talking about basketball period.....The buna cougars Girls team also was on fire in this era. They won 4 state championships under the leadership of Coach Hyden. If you have time...you should check out this website that tells the whole..full story.http://www.tabchoops.org/CT2006.pdf
