WO-S @PN-G

It appears to be a great opportunity for PNG to get the win. WOS is young, and  starting lots of newbies. If PNG can run effectively they might just get it done. If they cant......WOS gonna pin them ears back and bring it all night. IMO,the Stangs take it in a close low scoring game.

PNG should win with there experience but PNG is going to see a faster , quicker , more intense  team and tempo than they are used to . How they adapt will  decide their outcome ? I agree with outanup totally  !  Plus Mustangs have your  number ! PNG iin spite of on field talent .

With all the talk of PN-G defense, or lack there of, I looked up all of Faircloth teams vs Burnett teams.

Also the best defense in recent memory is one of the most over looked. 1996. They lost a heartbreaker to Jacksonville in the 2nd round.

I could be getting my years mixed up but I believe we played a double header at Bowers stadium. can swear I remeber getting off the bus and PNG was leaving. We lost to Waller 23-20. Could be way off here but I think I can remeber us playing at the same stadium on the same day. Or maybe Nederland? Anyways we lost 3 district games that year and still made the playoffs. Needed help though. Our young team gelled after the PNG loss.

I consider myself a walking encyclopedia from the 80s on.. So take out the 70s runs i can tell you this much... MBs best defense was 96. Heartbreaker to Jacksonville on a botched call in which a A&M commit hit a knee and wasnt called down......... 2nd best was 99.. You all know that story... Last was 07(Im thinking) which his son and Sheaxnaider where ends... The best I have seen in my day was 89. But MB was only a d-line coach. Pat Fischer was the DC and was a dam good one... the 80s where a wash except for 89... MB might have had some better statistical defenses, but those where his best units....

Going into SC game he had 2253 yards passing. 29 TD's and 6 INT.

If I remeber correctly, 5 of the 6 INTs on the year were in the playoffs with 2 in the SC game. pretty dang good numbers for a Sophomore that was supposed to be on JV the night before the first game. Kids a baller!

If PNG wants to be taken seriously they probably need to win this game handily. A loss doesn't really bode well for later success. Just looking at some past seasons it seems WOS hasn't beat a team that won a 4A/5A playoff game later that season in 7 years.

If WOS can rack up points on PNG with 10 new starters on O this early in the season, you're probably looking at more of the same from the Indians this year.

i thinks it's definitely worth the comparison why would it not be? I however am not a guru or expert but do think that it's definitely worth looking at. Don't think judging a coach by SC appearances will help much.

To each his own.. What some consider great and others consider great is always two different things... It's kinda like Tony Romo... You take him on your fantasy team because he put up numbers... That doesn't relegate to he wins games though... But this is not a argument I even care to take any further...

I wouldn't say handily... Just win... Regardless this will not make or break the season... It will Definately make us better... I can promise you WOS is going to score some points... Read past some of these posts, you know the deal... It's the biggest test we have had to date, and WOS basically owns us, so it should be a good game.. We have a good quarterback and a good receiving core... Our defense looks like they might be able to make a few stops.. But Clear Lake was more like a JV team IMO... So it's all still a toss up in my eyes.., I do know WOS has tons of SPEED... And you all know, you can't teach that... It appears that Nederland, Central, and Ozen, are wanting to get in the playoffs, so I think this can be a good rehearsal for them...

Didnt the Stangs bring in a receiver to play qb in last years game? First qb moved, 2nd removed fom team and #3 hurt during the PNG game.....Was #3 Dallas?

You are correct.. Rutledge was done, Dallas got hurt, and they brought in a 3rd teamer that ran sideline to sideline, and we couldn't stop it... In typical WOS fashion they turned it up in the 2nd half and beat us in OT...

according to PNG fans last year it was the REFs who beat y'all.....

but i guess you already know that since you are the "walking encyclopedia from the 80s on".

WO-S has had several seasons with early losses and went on to have great seasons. So unless WO-S  blows PNG away( which they wont ) a loss will make them work that much harder.
