stevenash Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 Census Bureau reports that the share of people in the U.S. living in poverty stood at 14.8% in 2014. That is above the mark of 12.3% in 2006, a full year before the last recession began. The 14.8% figure is the same as it was in 2013, indicating NO IMPROVEMENT despite the ongoing recovery in the economy. Quote
stevenash Posted September 28, 2015 Author Report Posted September 28, 2015 How can that be? After all, he is "for the little guy". He said in his re-election campaign that he would fight for the little guy. Hmmm- Is it just a small possbiity that more regulations, higher taxes, and Obamacare have something to do with this? No, how foolish of me to suggest that. This is obviously the fault of George Bush. 77 1 Quote

BLUEDOVE3 Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 here is my question: Since when did you people care about poverty? Quote
stevenash Posted September 30, 2015 Author Report Posted September 30, 2015 Always cared about it. The difference is that SOME believe you show how much you care by demanding government intervention and higher taxes. Others believe that alternative methods should be explored. The supporters of the former simply brand the latter as not caring just as they have branded them as supporting dirty air and dirty water. Quote

5GallonBucket Posted October 1, 2015 Report Posted October 1, 2015 Poverty is mostly by choice...yes there are exceptions, but mostly by choice. and the govt. don't help "if govt. gonna give me money why should I work." The govt. then owns you in which the govt don't even know how to police itself so how can it affectively police it's own welfare system. If you want real poverty go to a third world country....I ve been there, lived there, and seen it. Our bums here in BMT have it made. baddog and Hagar 2 Quote
