24-4A District Play

24-4A is entering the second half of district play and with only one game left against their district opponents, there is much still to be decided.  With a key matchup in store tonight there are a few teams looking to improve their district standing as well their playoff viability.

Key 24-4A Matchup:

(3-3) Little Cypress-Mauriceville vs (3-3) West Orange-Stark

LC-M overcame HJ to add a much needed win to their side in order to stay within striking distance of (4-2) Orangefield and district front-runner (5-1) Silsbee.

WO-S welcomed back the talents of their OH A. Teel and got back into the win column as a result of their victory over a game (3-3) HF team.  WO-S is sporting the only win over (5-1) Silsbee and needs a win over (3-3) LC-M in order to close the gap towards a district title.

Keep the Pace in 24-4A:

(3-3) Bridge City vs (4-2) Orangefield

Bridge City looking to bounce back against a loss to (3-3) WO-S and re-gain lost ground in the 24-4A race.  Can they pull off another win against a tough Orangefield team and at the same time throw their hat back in the ring for a potential district title??

Orangefield lost to Bridge City way back on Sept 8 in their first district match of the season.  Since then their only loss has been to a strong Silsbee team and after a key win against (3-3) HF, Orangefield is looking for payback on the road and also a chance to cement their spot in the playoffs.

Avoid the upset at Home!!

(5-1) Silsbee vs (0-6) Hardin-Jefferson

Silsbee, after a bye week, is looking to keep paving their way towards a District Title since......yep, that long. With strong team play and only one loss to (3-3) WO-S in their first district game of the year, the Lady Tigers are riding a five game district win streak in to the second half of play.  This is a sneaky game as all the Tigers remaining games are on the road.

Hardin-Jefferson looking to get off the snod and log their first district win against a tough Tiger team.  This has all the makings of an upset special and could turn this district head over heels and allow these Hawks to fly again.

That's what I thought. WOS Coach walked across the court and argued with the ref about a call. The ref allowed it. The argument went on for at least 2 minutes. Between the refs overturning the line judges calls and their own bad calls they have no control over the games. It has been really bad this year. And it is both ways. Not just for us but also against us.

Big game tonight between (4-3) WO-S and (6-1) Silsbee.

WO-S won a thriller first time around in Silsbee, 3-2 with the last game coming down to the wire.  Teel had a big night then, and took advantage of a less than stellar effort at the net from the Tigers, pounding them with big hits all night.

It will be interesting to see which team shows up tonight to take this match.

Always tense when these two schools meet in any sport.

Whats on the Line:

WO-S needs another victory for a shot at district title because a well balanced Orangefield team is going nowhere.

The Lady Tigers would like to stay one game ahead ahead of the Lady Bobcats with a win over WO-S and see if the next matchup with WO-S seals their district title.

** Down the stretch..... if it stays as it is and playoffs follow the predictable path then:

Silsbee vs Caldwell

and

WO-S vs La Grange

in the Area Round of playoffs.  While our sister district should escape until the Quarterfinal matchups, unless LC-M and OF have something to say.

24-4A is coming to an end.  After tonight most of the spots will be set.  Could become interesting if a few upsets happen tonight.

Great season to be a fan.  Lots of competition across the board.

Good luck to all:

'Stangs, Bears, Cats, Horns, Hawks and Cards' and of course our Silsbee Lady Tigers.

Bring it home ladies!!
