S.P(Daryl)#60 Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Sabine pass they got a good team this year and a new coach so they should be in the top 3
Guest JCfan Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 I have done the small town thing all of my life. Lived in one , played in one, and won in one.I have known about WH for almost two years now. I hope WH does well and I want to see them do well. That said, unless they develope a youth baseball system that not just lets them play, but teaches them the game from tball up, they will never have a consistant and competitve team. There is no reason for WH to have the # of kids they have and to have the ability they have and have a season like they had last year.Simply put, from my experience, there is not enough commitment to teaching the kids the game and encouraging them to play. This may make some people mad, if it does, I am sorry.I saw the hs teams I played on ranked #1 in state in 1A at least once every year from my freshman through sr. years bacause of a well organized, well coached youth baseball program. That is what it takes. Not just people who want to "let the kids play", but get someone who knows enough about the game to teach them all they need to know.Ask any hs coach worth anything in baseball what is most important to success and they better say a good youth baseball program that is consistant year in and year out. You can't make a baseball player after they are already in hs, they need it young.Ask Woodville, Colmesneil,Chester, and Warren how they are competitive year in and year out and they will say their little league programs. I apologize in advance for the long answer that will aggrevate some, but no coach will have a good program consistantly without youth programs feeding the hs program. And I played in a small 1A school, so numbers aren't the excuse. Thanks and good luck Oilers!
playdefense Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 I know one team who better get their field worked on or they will have to play every district game on the road.
