Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) @BruceFeldmanCFB: Urban Meyer said JT Barrett has to undergo counseling thru OSU & "forfeited his scholarship for one term" but can earn it back.@TJMoe28: Never heard of kid forfeiting his scholarship & only suspended for 1 game. Your starting QB is now paying for school? This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up @TJMoe28: JT Barrett is from Texas so I assume he will pay out-of-state tuition. Urban Meyer is essentially fining Barrett 21.5k. Is this the NFL?@TJMoe28: Keep in mind a scholarship pays for tuition, books, room/board, & any fees associated with attendance. OSU total is around $43k per year.@RyanCooperOSU: An Ohio State spokesman said that J.T. Barrett's summer aid is what has been taken away, not his fall or spring tuition. Lmao! PhatMack19 Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 If Barrett has been a full time student for at least a year then he has established residency in Ohio and there would be no out of state. TJMoe doesn't know what he is talking about. Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 @JayBilas: If a team wants to revoke a scholarship after the year is up, fine. But, are coaches, administrators, employees fined $20K for a DUI? Hmmmm…. Quote
Eagle11 Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 This is batted around non-chalantly..........had this been Manziel people would be losing their minds.I am no fan of Manziels, quite the opposite, but it is funny to see folks reactions Mr. Buddy Garrity and OldTimer 2 Quote

TJMoe doesn't know what he is talking about. I have first hand experience with out of state tuition and costs for an athlete and that is not true at all. Unless you have established a permanent address and meet some strict criteria, you are considered "out of state". This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Quote
Peppermint Patty Posted November 2, 2015 Author Report Posted November 2, 2015 I seriously doubt a D1 football player went thru the motions of establishing "residency" in order to save the athletic department money on his FULL scholarship. TxHoops and OldTimer 2 Quote

TJMoe doesn't know what he is talking about. it is not that easy for a student to establish residency in Texas. I have no idea about Ohio. Quote

Eagle11 Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 How many times has this kid been in trouble?NO ONE was thrown under the bus on strike one. John Boy has so many strikes he's already in the 3rd inning.I agree to an extent Pat but he was constantly questioned from the first time he had a run in, and he is well into the 3rd inning if not later in the game........I was one of them saying this kid needed discipline. But with Barrett everyone seems to be ok with a slap on the wrist. I believe DUI is something that needs more punishment as it can affect many folks just driving down the road with their family. Peppermint Patty Posted November 3, 2015 Author Report Posted November 3, 2015 He needs more than a slap on the wrist. He's been suspended and will lose some money this summer. Plus, he will have to deal with a OVI.If he keeps getting in trouble. Bye, Felisha! UTfanatic 1 Quote

If said athlete isn't "liked" or college isn't "liked" then its a huge deal while others that are "liked" gets it swept under the rug with little media buzz or absolutely none at all. Quote
