All be say she say.  AAW said he heard.  Had he said he actually saw him, then I'd believe it...  Just keep in mind that this kid will be asked to alter/block shots and grab boards.  If he gives us points, that will be a bonus.  we have scorers already.

My info came from a coach who was there. This is the text I received:

The 7'3 kid has a ways to go.  He won't be a difference maker for Central.  With him in they tried to go 2-3 zone which is not what Central does best.  When they went man with him, you can iso him on the perimeter.  He can't stay with who he is guarding.  He will help but won't be the difference maker that some are saying on the board.  You will see.

Ok.  We (Central fans) aren't the ones expecting him to be a difference maker.  He's 7'3".  We are ok with rebounds and altered or blocked shots.  The difference makers will be TJ or Nigal.  I guess the ones that expect Chris to be a difference maker or fans outside of the Central organization....

He is 7'3".  To say he won't be a "difference maker" is absurd IMO.  He would be a difference maker on any court, in any game he participates.  And I have seen him with my own eyes.  The kid moves very well and is steadily improving.  And right now, I would take him over some of the other bigs in the district I have seen several times with my own eyes. Then again, I guess it's how you define "difference maker."  When you have Pearson and Atwood on

the same team, on the same floor, the difference may not be as "glaring."  Those are two kids are that are ridiculous with the skill sets they have at their sizes.

Soulja is 100 percent correct - the blocked shots and rebounds are overlooked parts of the game that make a huge difference.  Maybe it's just me, but I would define that as "difference making."  ;)

IDK as far as the exact positions because like someone else pointed out...I dont think we have any true PG's.

But give me these 5 and we will beat any other 5 in the area

Arnold

Grubbs

Pearson

Atwood

7-3 Center from Central

That is a solid list.  I said something about an underrated player in another thread but then I wondered if Grubbs can be considered underrated? (And Saladin from HJ.). There was a split MVP in their district last year that included neither one of them.  I might have split my vote if I had one but it would have been on those two.

The only accurate statement in the entire text was "you will see". SMH

    • Ok. Here me out. I hate generalizing but bear with me.    this has always been my issue with the Double Wing T / Slot T / Wing T.    it’s not that it’s not a good offensive scheme it actually is very good.    That type of offense is absolutely brutal to not only the running back and the quarterback, but also the lineman. To complicate things even further most of your athletes on offense, skill players will be playing on defense where they will get the majority of the contact.    By the time the player gets to mid third-quarter or fourth, the skill players are completely exhausted from running up to middle and being tackled every 3 yards x 6 people on top of them and then have to turn around and run and chase the other offense down.    Cold spring running back was absolutely destroying the line of scrimmage, gaining 3/4 yards at a time and he did that for about 50/60 yards and his body just gave out he was probably exhausted because he probably played 70 to 80% of all the place. Playing 80% of the plays on both offense or defense is completely different at running back then at wide receiver like Travis Hunter.     all this to say is the running of the wing T double wing T slot T is OK for liberty Hill because they have 5/6 running backs that are just as good as the starter but even two years ago injury caused them to lose a very big game, by a lot of points against PNG     even though Orangefield‘s running back had 34 carries the majority of those carries were out on the flank and where he was only tackled by a few players, whereas Coldsprings  running backs were tackled by five or six of Orangefield players, and that wears a kids body down   None of what I’m saying is science all I’m saying is based off the last 14 years of seeing Orangefield run that kind of often it took a toll on running backs for the last 12 years the only one I can think that did not get hurt during his career was The kid that got 2,000 in a season.
    • What a tough 5A district with 4 teams ranked in the top 20. Should be fun to see it play out.
    • Y’all need to stop ragging on Weak Brook and instead send them all the positive energy that you can so that they can become Strong Brook and beat New Baytown on Nov 8. BTW, for those who don’t know, nothing irritates a Mont Belvieu/Barber’s Hill resident more than calling their town “New Baytown” and their High School “New Baytown High”.  I’ve already got an Old Man in my inbox on here mad because I slandered his precious team.  Just thought I’d mention it since we’re discussing school nicknames and stuff like that.
    • Until he spent $8.5 trillion and ignited the rampant inflation that is finally somewhat getting under control lol Short term gain, long term pain (and let the other guy deal with it, classic) P.S. - USA produces more oil now than ever before
