stangsports Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 i feel that Eric Sparks is the 2nd best pitcher in SETX behind Angelle. Sparks has allready pitched a nohitter a 1hitter and a 3hitter.... the best thing i like about Sparks is that he can pitch in pressure. I cant wait until the WOS-BC game its gonna be a pitching duel!!!
Ty Cobb Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Are you saying the 2nd best in 3A, or in all of SE TX?
snrohfan Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 I doubt WOS even sees Angelle this year. Looking at BC schedule I bet Angelle gets HF both times. HF is for real this year.
stangsports Posted March 23, 2006 Author Report Posted March 23, 2006 I mean in all of SETX I feel that he is one of the best in the area
midcountymadness Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 I think he is a good player, but 2nd best in Southeast Texas? For example: If he played at PNG 1. Harwood 2. Powell 3. Mire 4. McGinnes 5. Sparks Numer four right there throws 88-89. Has thrown over 90 at times.
Bears Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 It would be hard to put Eric in front of the BIG 3: Angelle Ehlert Harwood I agree that Eric is a great pitcher and being LH should be highly sought after prospect. I do wonder if he is being shopped? remember WOS had one of the best pure hitters in the area last year in Becker and he was not helped at all in his efforts to go to the next level.
Homer Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 I have heard that Sparks does have a few offers but I do not where or anything.
espn2 Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Here is a list. Just to start a conversation. 1.2.3. Any order Angelle, Ehlert, Harwood 4. Serna 5. Alvis 6. Mire 7. Smith (ned) Then a pretty good gap. 8. Haymon 9. Sparks 10. Roebuck 11. McCinnis
grandslam Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Just because someone throws 88mph does not necessarily make him a good pitcher, don't get me wrong it does help but there are some guys out there(sparks) that just know how to pitch (ex. working corners, pitching with the count, being able to throw offspeed pitches for strikes). I guess my point is just because your no. 4 guy throws 88mph doesn't mean he is a better pitcher than someone who throws 83mph. The mental part of pitching is what separates guys. Just my opinion.
40under Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 1. Angelle 2. Ehlert 3. Harwood 4. Alvis 5. Serna 6. Sparks 7. Powell 8. Roebuck 9. Gardiner 10.Haymon Those are the best pitchers in my opinion. Doesn't mean they throw the hardest, just that I feel they are the best pitchers.
espn2 Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 40under Not trying to critize. But you have Powell on your list and not Mire or McCinnis. Please explain your thinking.
baseballdad Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 he had 7or 8 walks in last game and had over 150 pitches.
40under Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 espn2, I feel he is more consistent than Mire and McInnis. I have seen all 3 throw this year and he was better when I saw them. The other two may throw harder, I just think he pitches better.
40under Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 he had 7or 8 walks in last game and had over 150 pitches. Who threw over 150 pitches?
WOSMustangs09 Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 i would have 2 say that sparks is very close behind angelle in the best pitcher in 24-3A jus because angelle throws harder than sparks doesnt meen that he can handle the pressure like sparks can!! sparks has been in the situations but i havent seen angelle to b in those type of situations yet.

What about Angelle against Hudason in the Regional Finals last year? He has seen plenty of pressure. What about Angelle vs Alvis last Friday night where he struck out 15 in a 3-1 win at Jasper. But I do agree that Sparks is the 2nd best in that district.
adminbaberuth Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Sparks is one the better pitchers in the area. No disrepect to WOS but just think what his numbers would be if he threw with a cushion once in awhile. Angelle Elhert and Harwood are the top tier in the area, Eric is real close.
ESPN Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 I've seen Sparks pitch. I would put him in the Top 5.
